So, I'm not the type to be publicly political, and I'm not one to air my opinions like dirty laundry all over Facebook or other social media. I'm just not. I watched the debates, and I follow the news. I have come to an educated decision as to who my vote is going for, but I'm not going to hashtag it everywhere. It's my decision, and I like to keep that close. But as a woman, I feel it's important to say that even if you don't like the candidates, or you're confused about why you should even vote at all, let me tell you why you should vote today.
If you're feeling like me today, that you SO wish that it was a big joke, that THESE are our two candidates? THESE TWO?! C'mon... If you cringe casting your ballot today, at least you're casting your ballot.
Simply put, voting is a right that generations of Americans struggled to win, and people in other countries are still fighting for. We can't take this right to vote for granted.
Consider this. It wasn't that long ago when women, African-Americans, Asians, Latinos and Native Americans were all denied the right. That means that some of our grandmothers and grandfathers and other family were alive on this planet during a time where they couldn't cast a ballot, even if they wanted to more than anything.
So go cast your vote, and feel good about doing it, no matter who it is you vote for. Happy Election Day.
