Welcome to Wild Wild Wet @ Downtown East!

A place no one would ever thought I would step foot in ever in my life. I have no animosity against the water park. It's just the thought of me drowning in any form of water that scares me. When I was invited, I was hesitant. In fact, so hesitant and scared that I even asked the organizer, "Will I drown?" - I refused to take swimming lessons during my primary school and look what is coming back to bite me now.

For those of you who are fans of water parks or have been to Wild Wild Wet before, you will know how crazy I sound right about now. For those who have never been to Wild Wild Wet, allow me to enlighten you - almost all of the water levels are at the maximum of 1.0m. Only the tsunami have a maximum of 1.8m. I am 1.68m tall. Basically, all I have to do is to stand in water to survive and yet I'm so worried about drowning. I didn't know how crazy I sound till I experienced the Wild Wild Wet adventure to understand "Hey! Water parks ain't so bad after all!"

Now to recount my adventure. The day started off as hot and sunny, a typical morning in Singapore. I've accepted the media invite to not only check out Wild Wild Wet's new ride - which will be unveiled later - but to overcome my fear of water*.

*I know having this fear sounds stupid considering we bathe everyday but it's different for you can control the water in your shower while you can't control the water in the wild

For the event, we were asked to dressed identically to help set a record in Singapore Book of Records for the 'Largest Gathering of Dress Alike Duos'. Just look at us being so #RelationshipGoals. You too can be #RelationshipGoals / #FamilyGoals / #FriendsGoals and get 1 for 1 access to various of places too. More on that at the end of the post for we're going to touch on the event happenings first :)

When we were there - about 30 minutes later - there were already so many duos watching the performance and playing the stage games. Being a Singaporean, food is a vital part of my life. Thus we wandered over to the food area next to the stage.

Look at how Kawaii this set up is! If you don't know where I am, you would think that I am at some outdoors party on a open field. Good job Rasel Catering!

I like how all the food comes in bite size portion, enabling to try out one of everything. My favorite is the savoury pastry shell. Where it tastes like a cup of pizza.

After we had our share of food, we went back to the stage area where they were awarding the best dressed duos. Look at the buns on the girls in swimsuits. Cute!

Finally, it was time for a group photo. A total of 111 pairs showed up in matching clothes for the record breaking event. Go Singapore!

Thereafter we were awarded our certificate and time for us to go enjoy the water park.

As you can see on the map, we were near Royal Flush. On the left was actually The Woosh, the new ride which I was talking about earlier.

For safety purposes, there were different sizes of life jackets and floats around the park. Do snatch it early for everything is on a first come first serve basis. With that being said, you don't need all this for The Woosh for it's literally a wet bouncy house.

The WOOSH

Standing at 50m long and 4.5m high, The Woosh is Singapore's Longest Inflatable Freestyle Water Slide at Downtown East. It's dual lane also allows guests to compete with their Seeing Double partner!

Look at it. A bouncy slide house! Just don't bring a needle near it.

Presenting the slide menu - a menu to slide. Cool right?

I know no words can explain how I feel when taking it but a video can. Thus, presenting the Woosh in 1 minute:

This being my first ride in Wild Wild Wet, I was very happy for it's a bouncy load of fun with sprinkles of water splashing on my face. Not dangerous at all! Plus you can slide it in so many different directions and ways - as seen in the slide menu below.

It's such a shame that The WOOSH is only there for a limited time period - 1 June to 30 July 2017 - in Wild Wild Wet, so be sure to try it out while it's here.

After trying out The Woosh, I've gained enough confidence to conquer Wild Wild Wet so here are the rest of the rides.

Royal Flush

Located right next to The Woosh is Royal Flush. I never wonder about why it is called Royal Flush until I was 'flushed' down the slide. It was so sudden and so much fun at the same time.

Free Fall | Vortex | Kraken Racers

On the other side of The Woosh is a compilation of slides. It's such a shame that it was not open that day.

With that, we make our way to the entrance.

Splash Play | Kids Zone

*Shiok is the hokkien for pure pleasure. Not the sexual kind.

Right behind the entrance is Splash Play and Kids Zone, where you can see family having family fun time with their kids. Educating them that water is nothing to be afraid of - clearly I did not receive such edutainment while I was a young but as they say, it's never too late right?

Shiok River

A short walk down and you can see this circular river. It is definitely my favorite 'ride' of the park for all you have to do is find a float lying around the water park, plop yourself on the float and just float with the river. You don't even have to paddle or swim. Just sit there and let the river guide you around. Or if you want to swim or walk on water, it's all up to you. It's your choice.

Slide Up

  • Torpedo - the slide with a sudden drop.
  • The water works - there's 2 slides for this. One with a cover which is full blown darkness while sliding and the one without the cover.
  • Ular-lar - a gentle-ish ride on a float into a river.

Situated opposite the Shiok river is Slide Up.The queue was long for you have to carry that red float up that ladder. However, once you are up there you know you are in for a very trilling ride. The only feeling I can say about this is that it felt like a 90 degrees drop . Like a rollercoaster! Then the pendulum effect kicked in and the next thing I know I'm drenched. Definitely a ride for the thrill seekers.

Ular-Lar | The Water Works | Torpedo

In the middle of the Shiok river platform, there's a cluster of slides.

As expected, I didn't try the torpedo because it is scary. I mean look at it. But you are up for it, don't forget to shout "Pull the level Kronk!" and when you drop shout "Wrong level!" - If you don't get it, you might be too young to get it or you just don't watch cartoons. Here's what I'm referring to:

BTW it's called The Emperor's New Groove. Back to the water park.

Professor's Playground |Yippee!

At the bottom of the cluster of slides is the professor's playground where occasionally, this huge bucket of water will pour on you. Besides that, it's great place to just sit in still water and stare or even join in with the kids. Relive your childhood!

Whereas Yippee is a small wet place where you can splatter water on each other.

Tsunami | Jacuzzi

Right at the back is the Tsunami. A huge wave of water where you can chill and let the wave conquer you. Do remember that it's maximum height is 1.8m so get a float or a life jacket before you go in the waves. Personally, I felt that if you are at shallow waters as I was, you will be swept to the shore by the waves.

Next to the Tsunami is the Jacuzzi. A great place for one to relax and let all your troubles be washed away.

Throughout the water park, there are tanning beds everywhere for you to get an even tan. I find that these are not needed for me for I find myself spotting a tan from my swimsuit just by running around the park #FairPeopleProblem.

For those who prefect to stay under the shelters, there are benches in the shade too.

Overall I feel that the trip to Wild Wild Wet was a fruitful one. It's a kid-friendly place with a variety of family/kids things to do. In fact, Downtown east is so packed with kids activities that I feel that every parent should bring their kids to Pasir Ris once in a while to have a break. As my first ever visit to wild wild wet, I felt that it was very fun and not as scary as I thought it would be. Not only I get to try out the new ride and I am more open towards water activities now.

For those of you whom are like me and want to get over your fear of water parks or just water in general, you should totally try out The Woosh to boost your confidence on water exposure. Plus it's a bouncy slide, what can be more fun and safe than that?

Admission Prices

Lockers

I like how there are different sizes of lockers which could be reopened multiple times. Personally, I feel that if you're not rushing anywhere and want to relax at Wild Wild Wet for a long time, rent the locker for a day. Not only there's a food shop in there but you can re-enter the place if you were to go out for some lunch. However, if you are planning to try everything once only, then 4 hours rental is enough.
