Though it might not feel like summer outside (hello, yet another gray sky), the shops are choc-full of holiday essentials – perfect timing if you’re heading off on honeymoon over the summer, though if you’re traveling later in the year it’s also worth buying things now before the summer clothes are replaced by winter stock.

This season is all about bright, bold prints – I love this tribal playsuit (Topshop; £31), and this floral bikini (Topshop; £22) has a nice 1950s feel and manages to be more stylish than chintzy. A playsuit is a great option for throwing over your bikini when you go for lunch or sundowners, and creates a lovely, playful look. Team it with a simple pair of sandals: I love this gorgeous pair by Ancient Greek Sandals (Net-a-Porter; £105) – they’re pricey but they’ll last you a long time. Floppy hats are perfect for covering up in the sun – I love the bold simplicity of this one (Oliver Bonas; £18), and it’ll look great coupled with a pair of aviators (Oliver Bonas; £16). Add a colourful tote (Oliver Bonas; £16) that’s big enough for your towel, your suntan lotion and your book, and a colourful necklace (Oliver Bonas; £18) to slip on when you head off for food, and you’re ready to go.
