Starting Strength #21

Hello my friends! Today is session # 21 from Starting Strength,  overall it was a pretty sound workout. Nothing too intense to report but I thought I would share the numbers with you. Similar to Session # 20 from last post.

Mark Rippetoe’s Starting Strength Session # 21

Squat(Hack Technique)
Supposed to be: 5/5/5 @ 180lbs
My reps: 3/2 @ 165lbs
5/5 @ 150lbs

So my previous reps @ 165lbs were 4/1, today was 3/2. Main reason being is that I lose my grip a lot after 3 reps. My fingers start to slip(i’m even wearing gloves) and I have to put the weight down. Overall the squats were pretty tough as always. Still felt good though. I think I have one or two more workouts with this weight.  This round of Starting Strength stops at session # 24 I think. Which makes about 8 weeks worth.

Bench Press
Supposed to be: 5/5/5 @ 150lbs
My reps: 4/2/3 @ 145lbs

So while I'm supposed to be at 150lbs right now, since I maxed out on bench press last week. I agreed to keep that same weight for the next three workouts and do 3/3/3 until I can do 5/5/5 at the next weight increase. Today I was able to do 4/2/3 @ 145lbs,  which is a little weird but I felt good doing 4 reps initially. Hopefully I can hit 5 reps before I finish this round.

Deadlift
Supposed to be: 5 reps @ 200lbs
My Reps: 5 reps @ 180lbs

I maxed out on this workout on session # 19, was unable to do the 190lbs required at that time so tapered down to 180lbs. Which means for the next three workouts I'll be trying to do 5 reps @ 180-185lbs in good form before I agree to increase the weight. Today's form was average at best on this deadlift exercise. I weigh around 148 lbs myself so deadlifting 180lbs is kinda tough for me but I try my best.

Thats about it for today's workout. Check out my new video I put on youtube of me fishing!
