Weekend Update + 4 Books

By Fitnessmeetsfrosting @fitnessfrosting

Happy Monday everyone! Anyone else bummed that it’s not a 4 day work week again? The weekend flew by, which I was mostly okay with because I did a lot.

Friday immediately after work, my family and Kyle drove to my aunt and uncle’s house for a quick get-together while my Grandpa’s sister was in town (from Colorado). We had a lot of fun and ate way too many desserts. (The bundtlets are an old photo but someone brought bundtinis from Nothing Bundt Cakes)

Saturday I woke up with bad sinus issues. I did NOT want to run and kept talking myself out of it. I eventually made it out of the house around noon for an easy 7 miles. Had to work off those desserts ;)

Later that afternoon, my mom’s side of the family drove to Sacramento to have dinner at Cafeteria 15L for my uncle’s birthday. He will tell you he’s turning 30…at heart. It’s a long trip for dinner, but my parents and aunt and uncle are investors so they like to check up on things.

Again, I ate way too much…

And then Sunday was “house hunting and relaxing day.”

10 Day You Challenge

I honestly don’t like this one. I tend to get bored with books very easily, so I have a long list of books that I have only read half of. Plus, I don’t really have favorite books, just like I don’t have a favorite movie or food. P.S. this list is in no particular order

1. The Art of Racing in the Rain, Garth Stein

As sad as this book was, it made me look at my pets differently. It also helped me when my dog passed away in 2012.

2. The Catcher in the Rye, J.D. Salinger

I hated being told what to read in school. This actually ruined reading for me a bit (I used to read a book a night in elementary school). Surprisingly I ended up enjoying this book even though I was forced to read it.

3. A Prayer for Owen Meany, John Irving

4. The Hunger Games (trilogy), Suzanne Collins

I know I’m going to get a lot of judgey stares from book snobs about this one. But I don’t really care. We like what we like. This is one of the few books I’ve read in my adult life where I couldn’t put it down. This was actually a problem because I was in college and trying to study for midterms.

How was your weekend?
