Wedding Planners – 4 Productivity Tips That Lead to a Successful Wedding Business

By Sharonhill @sharonhill

Tips on how wedding planners can be prodcutive each day

If you’re just starting your wedding planning business, one of your biggest challenges may be learning to make the most of your time, especially if you previously worked in a job with a lot of structure.

Here are 4 tips to help you be productive so you can have the thriving, successful business that you want.

1) Schedule your social media time

You can fool yourself into thinking you are doing a lot of online marketing when you spend hours on Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter, and recheck your pages throughout the day. But you only need to be on these sites long enough to post well thought-out messages that highlight your expertise and skills and pin photos that represent your wedding style. This probably shouldn’t take you more than 30 to 60 minutes a day.

2) Connect with people by phone

Rather than live chatting on Facebook, exchanging a series of emails, or texting, pick up the phone and talk to brides and vendors when they have complex questions. This can save time and you can often get a better understanding of what a person wants and needs when you speak with them.

3) Take breaks

Working hours at a time without breaks can make you stressed and unproductive, especially if you’re spending most of that time hunched over your computer. Regular 10 to 15 minute breaks, scheduled throughout your day, will actually help you be more creative and focused and thus help you accomplish more.

4) Make plans

What you do each day shouldn’t be random acts that you hope will bring you the success you want. If you haven’t written down your goals for 2014, do it today. Then create an action plan that outlines what you are going to do to accomplish those goals and break it down into what you will do monthly. From there you can write weekly and daily “to-do” lists that will help you stick to your plan.
