I love it when friends ask me to help them out on their big day. It gives me added value to know they want me there, and not just there, right smack in the bride’s face, too, haha! I’ve known Patricia since the Young Adults camp hosted by New Life Christian Center when I was about 21 I think. She was the first person to hug me even though I was new, and make me feel welcome and I was more than honored when I was asked to do her makeup on her wedding day.

THE SCENE STEALERS (not all products, but the main guys) Clockwise: Make Up For Ever Mist & Fix facial setting spray, Revlon ColorStay Liquid Foundation, Estee Lauder Pure Color lipstick in Pink Parfait, and the Stila NaturalEyes palette which I still combined with other eyeshadows I had. The MUFE Mist & Fix Spray ensured that in spite of the humidity at the resort, Pat’s makeup would not run or move, it proved its worth, and I’m happy because I got it 50% off with a Deal Grocer coupon.
When it came to Pat’s makeup we had done a trial about one or two weeks before the wedding. She wanted me to emphasize the eyes and she wasn’t afraid that I would put too much or too little makeup, which is easier I guess especially because we’ve been friends for quite awhile so the trust was never an issue. I did apply false lashes on her but I made sure they were made of real hair and weren’t too long so they wouldn’t look too sensational or unnatural, just enough to draw attention to the eyes in photos. The biggest cosmetic challenge I guess was because it was a humid venue by the ocean in Dive Solana, Anilao
Mike and Pat, thank you for making me a part of my big day. When the day ended with these two in each other’s arms I knew God was smiling. Yes there were struggles and tense moments throughout the day, almost every wedding has its road bumps, but they got through it with determination, laughs, and lots of love. I also did the mother of the bride’s makeup as part of the package and some additional friends and family for an added cost per head. James Corpuz was my hairstylist for the day. After the ceremony, I retouched Pat’s eyeliner and made it more black and intense for a more defined and noticeable evening look and James let Pat’s waves down softly touching her shoulders.
I don’t mainly focus on weddings for the main bulk of jobs I do but I like doing them in between TVC and fashion shoots to balance off my skillset with different groups of clients and of course because I’m somewhat of a hopeless romantic I love making brides bloom for their big day. By the way, Patricia Yap practically planned and coordinated her entire wedding from start up to before the day itself, then she asked willing friends to be her “day” coordinators. She now does “freelance” wedding coordination and frankly, I’ve never met someone as resilient, determined, funny, honest, affectionate, thorough, and OC but not insane as Pat and her follow through and persistence with proper time coordination just left me speechless about what she was able to accomplish in one day with the help of a few friends.
