Ways to use Aroma Treasures Tea Tree Essential Oil
Tea tree oil, also called melaleuca oil, is made from the leaves of the tea tree plant (Melaleuca alternifolia), a member of the myrtle tree family, which is native to Australia. The name was coined by British explorer Lieutenant James Cook in the 1770s, when he saw native Australians brewing tea using the leaves from the tree. Later on, he brewed his own batch of tea, and gave it to his crew to prevent scurvy.
Tea tree oil is an antibacterial disinfectant that has been used for centuries as an antiseptic. Studies show that tea tree oil treats some infections that are resistant to antibiotics, including bacterial and fungal skin ailments. I use this oil in the following ways -
- With my shampoo - I just add 2-3 drops of Tea Tree Essential Oil to my shampoo and apply it on my scalp to get rid of dandruff and keep my scalp free from impurities and germs.
- In my bath - I just add few drops of Tea Tree Essential Oil to a tub full of water and soak in myself to relax tight muscles and calm my mind. It also freshens up the body and keeps body odourless for hours.
- In my skincare routine - I just add few drops of Tea Tree Essential Oil to my night cream/cleanser/toner to keep my face free of zits and pimples.
- In my manicure/pedicure - I add a few drops to cream for cuticle care and welcomed relief for cracked nails.
- On my pillow - I place a cotton dipped in Tea Tree Essential Oil next to my pillow, so that the soothing, relaxing aroma of Tea Tree calms and relaxes my tired body for a good sleep!
