Veg Food Fest ~ Part 2

By Laura @BEBookworm

A more food-heavy blog today than yesterday. I ate so much good food over the weekend! I can’t believe I have to wait a whole year for the next Veg Food Fest, but I’m pretty lucky at the vegan selections available year-round here in Toronto, so I won’t complain.

Bryant Terry
The line for Bryant Terry’s talk was LONG, but we got in (despite 5 people cutting in front of us. Not cool.) It wasn’t exactly what I thought it would be, and he showed a video using fish in urban agriculture, but I do like his recipes.

Buchie & Sash
I wouldn’t really call Buchie & Sash’s products “cream cheese”. I think they’re more like dips (other varieties are dill and herb & garlic), with a softer consistency than cream cheese. Still yummy though!

BBQ Brisket
While volunteering 11:30-2:30pm on Sunday, I was HUNGRY! Lucky me, my friend Nicole waited in line at the Karma ChaMEALeon Food Truck to get me this BBQ Brisket Sandwich for lunch. Saved my life! And why don’t we have a vegan food truck in Toronto yet?

Pekoe
After spending Friday and Sunday volunteering next to the fantastic citrus smell, I had to try Pekoe Kombucha with grapefruit juice. I’m excited that they are opening up close to my work at the yoga studio I plan on joining.

peach vol-au-vent
Before seeing this in Tori’s Bakeshop display window, I had never heard of a vol-au-vent, but this peach one with coconut yogurt was divine. I love peaches.

Beer
I took a bit of a Food Fest break to have a couple of drinks at the Amsterdam Brewpub with Chad and his friend AJ. I tried the Richmond and John “tour”. My favorite was the third one, which was raspberry wheat.

Veg Food
Last meal at the Veg Food Fest! I went with Combo 1 from Green Earth, mainly because the crowd in front of HotBeans/Through Being Cool was too big. I love Green Earth’s rotisserie though.

Cupcake
Last dessert of the festival! Marble cupcakes with pink sprinkly frosting from Bunner’s. Perfect way to end a perfect weekend.
