Valentines Day At The Covenant House | By The Editor

By Heather Hahn @HeatherHahnn

I hope everyone is having a fabulous Tuesday!

What did you do for Valentines Day, anything fun? Maybe romantic?

For Valentines Day, I was actually volunteering at a Los Angeles homeless shelter for the youth, called “The Covenant House“. This was the first time I ever volunteered for a charity/organization, so I was pretty excited, and well, pretty nervous, when I was asked to help out, because I didn’t know what to expect.

The day started off by getting a team of kids from The Covenant House, and teaming up together to do a scavenger hunt around the facility. The team that completed the entire scavenger hunt, was then gifted with a prize at the very end.

Thanks to Alex, we we able to find the majority of answers throughout the house, but a few other teams beat us to it.

After the scavenger hunt was completed, each person in the house received a new pair of shoes, and it was time for lunch.

Having this been the first time I ever volunteered for a charity or organization, I would 100% do it all over again.

The whole reason why I am writing this post though, is to share with you guys, that if you have ANY free time at all, or an open schedule, think about volunteering at a homeless shelter near you or in your area.

It really opens your eyes to what life is all about, when for the majority of the time, we take a lot of things for granite without realizing it.

There are kids and people that just need to see a smiling face to have a better day, and to realize that there is hope.

If you live in the Los Angeles area, I would suggest checking out The Covenant House, and inquire about volunteering. Their kids are awesome, and so so kind!
