Hello lovelies,
it is finally mine :) After getting Naked, I wasn’t really into Naked 2 (although I plan to get it one day), but Naked 3 is really right up my alley.
Naked 3 comes in a metal case with mirror. It doesn’t feel as sturdy as I though it will, but it is a definite improvement over the packaging of the original Naked. I have to admit that I hope they repackage all the palettes into a rubbery packaging like Naked Basics.
The palette contains 12 full sized rosy toned eyeshadows – 3 matte, 8 shimmer and 1 glitter. It retails for GBP37. The palette comes with a slightly scratchy dual ended brush. The brush isn’t the best, but it will do.
You also get mini samples of four Primer Potions. I like the original, but I haven’t used other yet, as I want to finish Essence primer first.
The palette contains the following shades:
Strange is a matte vanilla beige. It is buttery soft and pretty pigmented, but very similar to my skintone.
Quality-wise the palette is good, but there are big variations between some shades:
Dust is very dry to touch and has a lot of fallout. Granted, it is not as bad as Midnight Cowboy Rides Again – glitter is smaller, but still. It is not very pigmented when applied with a brush – just a light wash of glitter. I don’t see myself reaching for this shade often.
Burnout is a nice pigmented shimmery pinky peach. I had no problem with application
Limit is a matte light mauve pink. It applies and blends easily.
Buzz is a metallic copper rose – again very pigmented and easy to work with.
Trick is a shimmery gold – it seems slightly less pigmented than Half Baked.
Nooner is a medium dark mauve pink. It is not very pigmented and the first coat was pretty patchy. It is definitely one of the worst shades in terms of performance.
Liar is a shimmery mauve and it is definitely the best eyeshadow in the palette. It is super pigmented – you need just a light swipe of brush to pick up color.
Factory is a shimmery warm medium dark brown. It also performs well.
Mugshot is a shimmery dark brown, slightly darker and warmer than Factory. It has great pigmentation and blendability.
Darkside is a dark taupe brown. It is very dry, not so pigmented and patchy when swatched with a finger. Used with a brush, it goes on without a problem, although it is still not super pigmented.
Blackheart is a dark, almost black purplish brown with purple shimmer. It is the most unique shade in the palette and it performs great.
My favorite shades (formula-wise) are Liar, Factory, Mugshot and Blackheart.
Overall, the palette has more positive than negative points. I don’t mind the shimmer, but I’d prefer if it weren’t for a glittery shade. The eyeshadows are soft and buttery smooth. There are a couple of exceptions, but in general the eyeshadows are very pigmented. They wear well over the primer – up to 12 hours without creasing.
The colours might not be as unique, but I like the overall rose theme of the palette. I was a bit afraid that rosy toned eyeshadows will clash with my skin tone (neutral to yellow), but all the eyeshadow combinations I’ve tried so far looked good.
The palette offers a good variation of looks – from neutral, work appropriate to a smoky, night out lok
