The Tour De France Footrace 2015 got underway this morning at 10:00 am local time in Paris. Eye witness reports said about 27 runners began the journey at Notre Dame in the center of Paris.
The 2,800 km race is split into 43 daily stages finishing back in Paris at the Eiffel Tower on August 9th.
8 women runners started, including Marie Doke from the UK, which is a very high percentage and a very strong field overall with Australian Martin Fryer, Christian Fatton and on the women’s side Wilma Dierx who was the leading 24 hour woman from the Netherlands in 2013 and compatriot Jenni de Groot and Trans Europe runner Hiroko Okiyama from Japan.
