Totes Teal: No 7 Vs Rimmel

By Amandainneverland @amandajtweets
It's the battle of the teal nail varnishs! In the red corner, No 7 Totally Teal and in the blue corner we have Rimmel Block Your Green. And the crowd goes wild!
Okay, maybe it's not that dramatic but I am comparing the two nail varnishes. I took the plunge a couple of days ago but switching my summer pastles and brights for a dark color. Yay for Autumn!

The first one I tried out was this cute little mini bottle of No 7, I got given this in a big pack of No 7 nail varnishes for Christmas, and I've only used one so far, so I thought I'd give this lovely teal color a try.
The first thing that stuck me about No 7 was the application was awful, I'm not too sure if it was due to it being a crappy brush, or the fact that the bottle is running out of nail varnish (my mom has been using it to cover up scuffs on her teal shoes!) but the application was very streaky and wasn't consistant in color at all. It took about 3 coats to make it fully opaque.

No 7 Totally Teal after one day...

And then within the first five minutes it started chipping around the tips. I'm sorry, but I think nail varnish that chips within the first five minutes is ridiculous, especially for a nail varnish that is called 'Stay Perfect'... I can't speak for all No 7 nail varnishes as I have only tried a few, but this is definitley the worst I've tried.
And after one day, my nails were chipped to the extreme! I think we can all agree that this is not a good look... This was after a 4 hour shift at work when I wasn't doing anything in particular that would chip my nails. You can also see that this color has stained my nails, despite using a base coat. It a shame because I really liked the colour, but I'm not the type of girl who enjoys topping up her manicure every 10 minutes...
So today, I'm trying out Rimmel's Block Your Green. I actually prefer the color of this one as it's a little lighter, which makes it a great transition color from summer to authum. The color is a lot more green than my camera wants to show. So you'll just have to trust me. Hopefully this manicure will last longer than a day!

I really hate to write negative reviews, but at the same time I want this blog to be 100% honest. :)
