The basics of makeup is contour and highlight. It gives depth and definition to the face. Once you get that down, say hello to fabulous!
Too Cool for School brings you this contouring kit that has 3 shades to shape and define your face creating natural three-dimensional contours.
The packaging is very organic and artistic looking. Something that reminds me of art and history class. Here's something cool that comes with the box... Printed inside is a background on Rodin, the inspiration for this contour kit.
So as an inspiration and tribute to this sculptor, the brand had created this kit and as I mentioned earlier it has 3 shades for contouring and highlight.
The lightest shade is more of a nude color. If you're really fair then this would create a very very subtle shade but for my light-medium skin tone it appears like a cream color and definitely a good shade for highlighting areas like the bridge of the nose. It almost seem to blend into my skin while swatching and isn't too noticeable.
The second or middle shade is still a light shade of brown. Very neutral and slightly warm but isn't muddy or orange-y as most bronzers are. This is actually a perfect contour shade for my nose. Im not someone who has a tall nose and although I'm not in any way insecure about it I sometimes do a "nose job" in myself. With nose job, I mean a bit of contouring to make it seem like my nose is slimmer and taller. Makeup can really do wonders so if you have some insecurities about your nose, try shading techniques before anything else.
The last shade is the darkest and is definitely a warm shade of brown. The swatch of this shade shows that it does have a hint of orange to it but nothing drastic. In comparison to the bronzer I have previously tried and used, the darkest shade of this kit is still light.
The finish of these powders are matte so no worries about shimmer and shine. They are very finely milled too; super blendable and smooth. With that said, it's easy to use since you really can't mess up while using this.
It is suggested that you mix all three shades for general face contour, meaning the hollows of your cheeks, jawline and the neck if you need to slim them down. For a more detailed contour, you can use each shade individually along your nose, hair line and even deepen the face contours.
I love how compact this kit is and has it's own mirror so you can carry it in your purse. The only down side I can think about this product is that you obviously need to carry around brushes in your makeup bag to make it work. I don't like cream products that much but for an easy, on the go contour kit I think it would be much better to have this in a cream formula so you don't need to have the hassle of bringing brushes.
Oh and another thing, this contour kit would only work best with light to medium skin tones since these shades won't really show up to those with a darker skin color. If I'm not mistaken I think this is the only Artclass by Rodin contour kit but it would be nice if the brand would come out with one or two more kits that would cater to those with darker skin tones.
I'm actually fond of this kit but I have found myself straying away from contouring this past month, which is quite weird for me since I've hit pan with all the bronzers that I own - that was how much I love contouring my face... But it seems I'm in a no-bronzer phase as of the moment. Nevertheless this is such a good product that I personally would purchase even if BNT hasn't sent it.
