Tony Moly, Kiss Lover Lip Master in Sexy Red Review

Around 2 months, back I received my Althea box directly shipped from Korea - refer to this Instagram post here. In the stash of cosmetics and skincare products was the Tony Moly's Kiss Lover Lip Master in Sexy Red.

*The color Sexy Red is more of a mix of reddish orange despite of it's name.

The Tony Moly's Kiss Lover Lip Master was not just a lip tint or a lip stick alone. In fact it's a 3 in 1 product: Lip stick, Lip Tint and Lip Gloss. Aside from that, Tony Moly's Kiss Lover Lip Master also aims to achieve what other lip products can't : To be both smooth and matte. Smooth when you first apply it and matte after it has settled.

Besides that, it also claims to be long lasting, pigmented, non-sticky, moisturizing and silky. For a 5ml lip cosmetic product, I feel that that's too much to claim. Thus, we are here to learn, does this product lives up to its own expectation?

First look the sponge-like applicator - with a sharp rounded tip at the end, it gives consumers the illusion that the lip tint is easier to apply with precision. However, due to the material the applicator is made of, the applicator often takes up too much product and cause the lip tint slip and slide around the lips, causing uneven application, On top of that, I felt that, in order to line the lips perfectly with this, is to use an external line liner or line it with a lip brush.

Seen from the swatch, despite being a lip tint, gloss and lipstick mixed into one, the pigmentation of the product is better than I expected it to be. On top of that, you can see the glossy factor of the product in this one swatch. Another factor would be the excess amount of product being picked up by the applicator. As mentioned above, I feel that this excess is not the most ideal amount if you're looking to apply the product evenly.

The key to this Kiss Lover Lip Master was to evenly apply a layer, letting it set and then layering up for a more pigmented color. Normally, I would stop at the second layer for I felt that depicts the product's true color. If you're wondering, what's this product's true color, look in the little "window" on the lip tint's body.

Unfocusing from the lips to the bigger picture. That's the second layer after the lips were "stretched" and the gloss settled.

The thing about brightly colored lipsticks is they get on your teeth very easily. So do clean the inner corners of your lips and check your teeth before leaving the house.

A trick I like to use is the "suck thumb" method right after I apply my lipstick. So basically you place your thumb or your finger in your mouth, close your mouth and pull the finger out to "clean" the inner corners of your lips. That way, you won't have any lipstick stain until you reapply. If you are a visual person and have no idea what I just wrote, just refer to this video here.

One factor about this lipstick is that it's not smudge proof nor food proof. That means, eating, drinking, kissing will cause you to leave your lip stain everywhere. Thus when wearing this lip tint, do remember to touch up after your meal.

The good point about this lip tint is it smoothens out the appearance of your lip lines if you apply an adequate amount on your lips - 2 layers or more. Plus, it's moisturizing and not sticky at all. One of the things which I like about the Tony Moly's Kiss Lover Lip Master is its scent. A sensory of sweetness and a hint of peppermint makes it one nice scenting lip tint.

Another good point would be it doesn't discolor my lips despite being a lip tint. As everyone knows, the advantages of a lip tint would be its slight stain on the lips after removal. Although that stain might be good for people with ash pale lips like myself, having that stain on for too long or having the wrong formula stain will cause discoloration of the lips and we don't want that.

The last point on the Tony Moly's Kiss Lover Lip Master which I like to touch n is the smooth and matte factor. Once applied, I am able to see that it's glossy and silky which is in short the smooth factor. However, after letting it set, the glossy factor does disappear but it still doesn't turn matte. It's just silky and no as glossy but it's not really matte.

We've finally come to the end of the long post and in summary here are The Good and The Bad of Tony Moly's Kiss Lover Lip Master in shade 3, Sexy Red:

All in all, I would give the Tony Moly's Kiss Lover Lip Master 4 IreviewUread smiles. Despite its downsides such as the troublesome applicator and non smudge proof, I still generally love this product because of its scent, its pigmentation and the outcome of how the lipstick actually look on myself.

Aside from Sexy Red, the Tony Moly's Kiss Lover Lip Master also comes in 4 other shades:
