Tony Moly Backstage Gel Liner in PEARL BROWN Review

By Urhappybunnie @joaniebunnie
Hello lovely readers, I've been in a really depressed mood lately and running, makeup and writing are my catharsis.  So here I am with another review on one of the products included in my BNT Beauty Box sent by BNTNews International
I have actually heard a lot about Tony Moly Gel Eyeliners. This is actually the favorite of most Korean beauty bloggers. They always rave about how great it is so I was actually really happy to get a chance to try it.

First off, the packaging. I actually find it ingenious to have a brush included in the packaging since I always have this problem with gel liners with traveling: I always forget the brush! Some might actually consider this packaging a little bulky and a little bit unusual but I don't think it's that big of a deal. The brush that it comes with is also retractable, though you can't extend it to a a full sized brush, it is of decent length to work with. The length of the brush actually gives you enough control to apply the gel liner so if you're a newbie at putting gel liners on or just liners in general, this is really helpful. The brush itself is fine tipped and applies the liner precisely.

The gel liner is very smooth and creamy. It glides on with ease. It is highly pigmented. The shade I received was Pearly Brown, so it does have a pearly finish. At first I was hoping the black liner but I was actually quite glad I got this shade since I've been wearing neutral eyes lately and I don't have any brown liquid or gel liners in my collection (I have several black and other shades!). The pearl finish just adds a bit of glam to the eyes instead of using just a plain brown liner. The pearl finish is very subtle that you can barely notice it anyway if you're not really staring at it. The liner is so easy to smudge out before it dries but once it dries completely, it doesn't budge at all. I haven't noticed any fading or flaking even after more than 6 hours of wear.

This liner retails for about $7-11 depending on where you get it and has 4g of product in a jar. The price is not that bad considering it is of a nice quality. Some comparable drugstore gel liners along that price range are Maybelline Lasting Drama Eye Studio Gel Liner and L'Oreal Paris Infallible Gel Lacquer Liner. The Maybelline gel liner is one of my favorite drugstore liners but it does dry out after 6 months or so. Blogger testimonials say that the Tony Moly Gel Liners doesn't dry up even after two years! I have to see in a year if this is true. :)
Overall these are my final thought on the Tony Moly Backstage Gel Liner in Pearl Brown:
  • Consistency - smooth and creamy
  • Applicator - fine tipped, synthetic brush that comes with liner
  • Pigmentation - great color pay off
  • Drying time - quick drying
  • Wear - lasts the whole day without smudging, waterproof
  • Removal - easy to remove with makeup remover
I give this product a ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥/5! I am very pleased with this product and I would definitely purchase other shades of this liner.
~Whew. This was quite a review and this really helped me relieve some of that stress. I hope you guys have a wonderful day ahead of you! ~
