Tomato Onion Paratha


Preparation Time: 10 minsCooking Time: 15-20 mins Makes: 6 parathas

 Ingredients:(american measuring cup used, 1 cup = 240 ml)

  •  1 cup whole wheat flour (gehun ka aatta)
  •  ¼ cup wheat flour (gehun ka aata) for rolling
  •  ½ cup onion paste
  •  ½ cup tomato pulp/puree
  •  ½ teaspoon ginger paste
  •  ½ teaspoon garlic paste
  •  1-2 teaspoon chopped coriander (dhania)
  •  Chilli powder to taste
  •  Cumin seeds powder to taste (jeera) 
  •  Salt to taste
  • oil for greasing 

 Method:

  1. Combine the wheat flour and all the Ingredients (salt, tomato puree, ginger paste, garlic paste, cumin powder coriander, chilli powder, onion paste) in a deep bowl and knead into soft dough using enough water if required.
  2.  Divide the dough into 6 equal portions.
  3.  Roll the roti into a 150 mm. (6”) diameter circle using whole wheat flour for rolling.
  4.  Heat a non-stick tava (griddle) and grease it lightly using a little oil.
  5.  Cook the paratha, using a little oil, till it turns golden brown in color from both the sides.
  6.  Repeat steps to make 5 more parathas.
  7.  Serve hot.
