Amidst in the old and quiet estate along North Bridge Road stood a cafe called Tolido’s Espresso Nook Cafe & Coffee Bar. I must say, it sure looks quietly peaceful on the outside before stepping into the cafe. We supposed it will be a good place for some quiet time over a cup of coffee and some food.
The moment we stepped in, we were greeted by lots of pinewood furnishings. Its interiors seems to be following a farm theme (the wood, the metal cups that resembles milking pails to hold cutlery) but whatever theme it is, it sure felt cozy though. There is this cozy little corner with sofas for you to rest upon, soft lightings to further enhance the relaxing cozy mood that you need after a day’s work or just to “relak one corner”. There are also seats facing out to Jalan Sultan where you can sit and watch the cars whizz by, people walking by. The cafe staffs were very nice approachable people and we don’t feel any “pressure” from this whole setup.

Norwegian Smoke Salmon Scrambled Eggs $15.90
The Norwegian Smoked Salmon Scrambled Eggs ($15.90) has scrambled eggs pretty well-scrambled; not too-cooked like you see in McDonald’s Big Breakfast with majority areas still runny. This is topped with generous amount of Norwegian Smoked Salmon that tastes salty-ly good. Look closely, it is actually a all-day breakfast item on their menu. There’s 2 slices of toast, cheese tomato and some greens to go along with it. The toasts really gave me a surprise; it wasn’t too hard to bite into and so I usually coupled it with the egg and salmon and down my throat. Look, if a toast is too hard to bite, I think it is quite frustrating to eat with the rest of the available ingredients to top onto, “balancing” them so they won’t fall off and in the end it’s only the toast left to bite. Crunch.
Tolido Pancakes With Chicken Sausage And Egg $7.90
Tolido’s Pancakes ($7.90) are what Dariel ordered. It’s a dish that does not look as complicated as the Norwegian Salmon dish; 2 slices of pancakes, a hotdog and an egg. It looks plain until I had a taste of the pancakes and man, they sure are fluffy and light! It is topped with light sprinkle of icing sugar. As would any other pancakes, there is the maple syrup and butter to pair up with. With the maple syrup soaking into the light fluffy pancakes like sponge and water, together with a smear of butter, Tolido’s Pancakes hmm hmm!
Coffee with latte art to brighten up the day.
Mocha $5.90 ; Espresso + Milk $$5.50
Espresso+Milk and Mocha @ $5.50 and $5.90 respectively. Over the counter you can see the barista really putting 100% concentration into making the latte art. By the way, having some basic experience with latte art, the art in their coffee (or at least in our coffee) are designs not easy to make – not the heart art design you see almost everywhere. Okay latte art aside, how about the coffee? The Espresso+Milk has a balance in its aroma and milk. You know, some times the aroma of the coffee gets overwhelmed by milk and it becomes like Kopi-Cino. On the Mocha side, it isn’t too sweet and just as nice. Both beverages served in quite big cups. There is also free flow of sky juices you can help yourself to over at the bar counter.
Tolido Truffle Fries $10.50
Suddenly a dim sum bamboo steamer serves up onto our table. It was Tolido’s Truffle Fries ($10.90). Fresh and hot, these fries bite with a crisp. The taste of the truffles were strong coming from the truffle oil and occasional saltiness from the Parmesan cheese sprinkled into this little basket of thick-cut fries. It isn’t too oily and I guess this is pretty good as a finger food with a couple of friends with coffee and perhaps, gossips. Haha!
