Time to Get Proactive About Our Health

Many of us have put off preventative testing and screening during the Covid 19 pandemic. And I get it! I skipped a dental cleaning and my mammogram. And my in-person physical last year. But it’s not a good idea to put screening off indefinitely.

If you are reading this, then you are a woman of a certain vintage (or a spouse/partner who cares for her). Cardiovascular disease is the number one killer of women in America. I’m not trying to scare you (or myself), but we need to start being proactive so we aren’t one of those statistics.

Enter Life Line Screening, mobile testing to screen for multiple conditions for one low price. They perform a series of non-invasive tests that check for cardiovascular conditions such as carotid artery disease, abdominal aortic aneurysm, atrial fibrillation, and peripheral vascular disease.

And they can even add on blood testing if you wish. You can then share this data with your MD or trusted health practitioner. This is SO much better than doing all the tests piecemeal with multiple appointments.

But I have no symptoms, you say. Right. But a number of these conditions may not show symptoms until it is too late.

Life Line Screening can also check for kidney or liver disease, osteoporosis, and diabetes.

Would I do it? You bet! Alas, right now they are not in Hawaii, but as soon as I get back to the mainland this summer, you can bet I will schedule myself. Am I nervous that something might show up? Sure. But far better to know and to take action if need be than to wait for a potential health crisis. Put on those Big Girl Panties and find out.

Life Line is up to date with the latest sanitation and isolation procedures during this time of Covid 19. Employees and customers are required to wear masks, vigorous cleaning procedures are in place, temperatures taken prior to entering and appointments are limited to ensure social distancing.

To schedule your own screening, go to their website: lifelinescreening.com and put in your zip code to see when their mobile testing facility will be near you. Get checked – though we hate to admit it, we are getting older and need to take an active role in protecting our health.
