It was only a few weeks ago that I reported the very welcome return of Tim Newman to his always interesting blog, White Sun of the Desert. Being something of a 'derring-do' oil man, always up at the sharp end of the drill-bit in some hell-hole or other, his occasional absences were understandable, but now he seems to have more of a back-office role in the very much more civilised and salubrious country of Australia.
