So according to my childhood favorite band, Blink 182, nobody ever did like me well I was 23. Thanks Blink 182, thanks…a lot.
Going from being 22, and hearing Taylor Swifts song “22″, to being 23 for an entire year, and taking that in reference to Blink 182s famous lyrics “nobody likes you when your 23″, I wasn’t really quite sure how my 23rd year would start out when my birthday came around last year.
Luckily, Blink 182 was totally lying, and I made more friends then they had ever assumed for being 23, and well…everyone loves me!
I have to admit that every single day that I come to write a blog post, “Ideas For A 23rd Birthday“, has been a top trending post for this entire year, and welp, hasn’t really moved spots, so I am so thrilled for that, and I hope you guys took some of my ideas into having the best 23rd birthday that you could ever really have.
My 23rd has had its fair shares of ups and downs but I figured for the next future 23 year old, I would give you a few pointers and a few of my own experiences that I have learned so far being 23.
My 23 Year Old Experience
+ You can have the best time with only one or two of your closest girlfriends or friends, you don’t need a flock of friends like you did when you were in college or high school.
+ Friends are going to come and go, and well lets face it, being 23, you’re most likely going to have a lot of people coming in and out of your life, for either all of the right reasons, or for all of the wrong reasons.
+ If you haven’t figured out what “true friendship” means, this is the year you’ll learn what a true friend is, and really who will be there for you for the majority of your lifetime.
+ Work is well, sometimes more important then play. This is the year you’ll focus more-so on your career and where you want to be in life, rather then going out clubbing every night like you did when you were 21. And if you’re still acting like your 21…best of luck to you!
+ This is the year you’ll figure out what “true love” really is. You may have some heart breaks here and there, maybe some bad situations, but toughen up, you’ll be married by the time your 28 in no time.
+ You’d rather stay at home and watch every Monday nights episode of “The Bachelor”, then even attempt to go out with friends or to a casual dinner.
+ A lot of your friends depend on you at this time, do your best to not let them down, at least the friends that are closest to you. Those are the friends that will be there forever.
+ This is the year you say who cares to going through the Starbucks drive-thru in a facial mask, just getting out of bed. All a girl needs is her coffee at 8:00 am and she needs it ASAP!
+ Family is everything to you at this time. You’ll start talking to your mom and dad more then you ever have this year.
+ Family starts to take the place of friends that you may have potentially lost this year, and that’s a good thing.
+ You don’t really care anymore about what excuse my french, assholes, or un-stable people have to say to you, you just learn to brush it off, and move on.
+ Cars become a pain in the butt, if you don’t already have a new car. Mechanic break downs, too tired to get gas, so you run out of gas, etc. Real life problems.
+ You love just networking with people that have the same interests as you in your career field, you start wanting to live a life of people that are just like you.
+ This is the year you LOVE traveling, and just for the heck of it, love taking random vacations for say to Vegas.
+ You’ll start laughing about past ex-boyfriends, and people you “use to” date
+ You will start to develop an extra “hobby” or extra activities, that you discovered you love doing in your free-time
+ When you’re 23, you do not have time for the drama, or the “bs”.
+ You start going to church more often then you did when you were 21 and 22.
+ You’ll always realize that you’re lucky to wake up each day to live a new day, and that life is one of the most precious things because of family and close friends.
