These Are a Few of My Favorite Things: June Edition

By Slowdownandsavor

So June is almost over, and with that comes the very first official day of summer. Hip hip, hooray!!! I figured it would be a great time to unveil Slow Down and Savor’s June Favorite Things, and I can’t wait to share these products with you.

So without further ado…

1. Karen and Marcus are actually really getting along! I’m SO happy about this, because as you may recall, at the end of last month, these two were going at it so hard. I was afraid they’d never be friends, and Karen would always be resentful. But that’s not the case at all. We’ve gone through a lot at the start with them, including a cat scratch to the eyelid that actually sent me to the hospital, but here we are, together at long last, purring, jumping, licking, playing and sleeping. It’s a beautiful thing, really. And this leads me into my first favorite thing: Purina Beyond.

I was contacted by someone from Purina + Target about receiving a bag of this new cat food for the purpose of reviewing, and I was so fired up. Of course I’d be happy to get some free cat food to test out on my furry babies, and because it was Purina, I was SUPER happy. Now, I’ll get more in depth with a real review of this food later on, but I wanted to just touch on it now, because it’s awesome.

Beyond starts with all natural stuff, and real poultry or fish is the #1 ingredient! They also don’t take nutrition lightly. Every reference of nutrition they make is backed up with their in-house pet nutritionists. Very cool. The most important thing though, is that my cats are in love with it.

2. Yesterday, I received another awesome VoxBox from Influenster!

There’s a lot of cool stuff in this box, but I have to say, I LOVE the Sinful Colors nail polish in the shade Ocean Side.

At first, I wasn’t so in love with it, but I guess I’m not really used to seeing my nails being, well, blue. But the color has seriously grown on me. AND… OK I’m terrible at doing my own nails. I have no patience, and I hate having to wait to put another coat on and all that jazz. Well, I didn’t need to put a second coat on at all. The paint is thick, and shiny, and hasn’t chipped at all. It’s really awesome. And I love it.

3. I’ve already written an entire post about Wimberley Shave Ice, and my obsession with their mango + tamarind snow cone.

And I feel like I couldn’t make a Favorite Things for June post without including it, in all of it’s sour, sweet and tart glory. It’s insanely good, and I dream about it at night.

4. Pie Society has really won a place in my heart, and has won that place with insane speed. From the first visit where all I did was get a tour, to the second visit, where I was finally able to chow down on their perfectly crafted New York style slices, to the THIRD visit, where my husband and I went back, camera-less, just for the purpose to eat and be together for a quiet date night. It’s one of those places we love, that we just keep going back to.

And I’ll bet you that we’ll KEEP going back. With their delicious, and inventive pies, I know we’re not the only ones who are having a love affair with this new San Marcos pizza place.

5. A few weeks ago, I received a big box of 505 Southwestern Chile Sauces, straight from New Mexico. I wasn’t totally swept off my feet by the stuff, until I made some pulled chicken tacos using their enchilada sauce. Those were SO GOOD. That very same night, I opened their honey chipotle salsa, and my mind was blown.

This salsa was incredible. It’s smokey, sweet, spicy and chock full of flavor. It’s also addicting. One bite is NOT enough of this stuff, and I seriously can’t get enough of it. As I sit here writing about it, my mouth is watering like mad. LIKE MAD. And I think I may need to go get some now.

Yep, that’s exactly what I’m going to do. So, There you have it folks, Slow Down and Savor’s June favorites. What are YOUR favorites this month? Share them with me here, or at Slow Down and Savor’s Facebook page!
