These Are a Few of My Favorite Things: April Edition

By Slowdownandsavor

Hooray! We’ve reached the middle of April, and I think it’s time once again for Slow Down and Savor’s Favorite Things posting! I love this time of the month, because I’m able to share some of the coolest items and products I’ve come across, and use either on a daily basis, or that I believe in and want to promote. Most of my favorite things this month have a link that will conveniently take you to where you can purchase the items, in case you want to make my favorite things your favorite things too!

I was not financially compensated for this post. I did not receive any samples for review purposes. The opinions are completely my own based on my experiences.

Slow Down and Savor Favorite Things April

1. HEB’s in-house roasted roast beef: This stuff is good. Like… really good. Michael, Major and I have fallen in love with the stuff, and have been especially taken with the Cajun variety. The biggest reason I like it, is because the kiddo likes it. I just get so excited when he eats something besides peanut butter and jellys’, and lunchables. So hooray for HEB’s roast beef!

2. Australian Gold JWOWW Natural Black Bronzer with Ink-Drink Complex: For me, when the seasons change and the weather starts to get warmer, I like to start getting a base tan so that I’m ready and raring to go for summer bikini weather. When I discovered J-Woww’s (Don’t judge me…) tanning lotion with the ink-drink complex in it, I knew I found a winner. The lotion contains a yogurt base that is infused with Black Currant Oil and Pear for deeply hydrated skin that is visibly smoother and more even. Like, my skin is CRAZY SOFT RIGHT NOW YOU GUYS. The Natural Black Bronzer provides instant dark color with a combination of the best immediate bronzers available. The lotion also has Kendi Oil, which is a non-greasy natural extract that radiates and softens the skin. Ink-Drink™Complex, which really sold it for me, is the first tanning product to help to protect tattoos from fading and has a restoring and rejuvenation effect with Raspberry and Beeswax combined with Vitamin E and A and Shea Butter. It’s good for both tanning beds AND the real outdoors, so buying the bottle will last me for all of tanning season. And it smells excellent.

3. Whataburger’s Jalapeño Cheddar Bisucuits: So. Good. I loved the jalapenos. They stood out like a bright and spicy (but not too spicy) beacon of joy. The biggest surprise was that it wasn’t too greasy! The sausage and egg and cheese paired beautifully with the biscuit, and I wanted more. Luckily for my husband, I got him two. He really liked it too, and enjoyed his egg-free version.

Here’s my video from when I first tried the biscuit. Since this video, my family and I have had them again. And again. They’re so good…

4. Wyler’s Authentic Italian Ice: Addicted. I’m fully, wholly, and completely addicted to these delicious ice pops. The flavors some how taste deliciously creamy, and they’re only 50 calories per pop, so I don’t feel bad about eating THE WHOLE BOX at once. My favorite flavor is ALL OF THEM. I’m actually, literally, eating one right now as I write.

5. Scentsy: These amazing scented wax melts and warmers finally entered my life as of a few days ago, and I already have my next order planned. I am OBSESSED. I’m starting to think this list should be called “These are a few of my OBSESSIONS.” Compared to the other waxes I’ve been using, (Febreze, Glade, Better Homes & Gardens, Tyler, and Scent Chips)  this wax is not only higher quality, but the scents are both stronger and more pleasing. I ordered Thunderstorm, By The Sea and Tomato Vine. All three are from their spring/summer line, and are bright, crisp and fragrant throughout our whole home. I can’t wait to get some more. Too bad you can’t just order through the site. You have to have a connection or visit a party, but I’m willing to bet that you know someone who sells the stuff. It’s kinda like Mary Kay or Avon in that aspect. But way better. Because it’s for smells.

6. Norwegian candy: I don’t know what it is about fizzy pop and the other Norwegian candies that my husband’s aunt and uncle bring back state-side when they visit, but it’s good stuff. I think I like their candy because it’s not too sweet like a lot of the candy here. If you’ve been reading this blog for any period of time, then you know I’m not a sweets fan, and that there’s only a very select few things that I will eat from that department, and this candy is one. So when a few days ago my aunt-in-law arrived from Norway for the Easter holiday, I couldn’t have been more excited when she pulled out a bag of FizzyPop just for me. Thank you!

7. Indoor Growing Stuff like Green Toys Indoor Gardening Kit: Talk about having fun and teaching your kids something at the same time. Our kiddo really loves growing stuff, and has had totally enjoyed starting a little garden in the house. What’s more, is that when the plants are big enough and strong enough in their little pots, you can transfer them to an outdoor garden. Love. It.

8. New Phone Cases: I don’t know why this excites me to the degree it does, but getting a phenomenal new phone case is like getting a phenomenal new hair cut, pair of earrings or dress. It just feels fresh and good and exciting and I just enjoy it. This past week, I picked out TWO new cases from Amazon, and not only was it cheap, but it is THE BEST case I’ve ever had. It’s so pretty and unique. If you want to be unique like me, click the link to check out my water colors case: Iphone 5, Iphone 5s Pastel Watercolor Paint Box Set Case with Free Screen Protector! For the Artistic and Crafty Personalities.

9. Eating Outside: Now that the weather has gotten better, it’s pretty much all we can do to NOT eat outside, and opt for awesome restaurants with awesome outside seating. Being that we’re in the Texas Hill Country, there’s a plethora of places that fit the bill, but one of our new favorites is the combo of Jester King Brewery & Stanley’s Farmhouse Pizza. We had so much fun there, and the best part, is you don’t need to get a baby sitter. The place is family friendly, and when we went, there were hoards of children running around. The beer is good, the pizza’s better and if you get there on a day when the sun kisses your cheeks like an old friend and the breeze hugs you like your grandmother, then you can’t find anything better in the world then being where you are, tasting, seeing, hearing and experiencing what you will. We love that place, and plan on being back. Several times.

10.Xbox One Standard Edition: There’s a video to explain this one.

So that’s a wrap on my top 10 favorite things for April. What are some of your favorite things?
