The Owl and the Pussy-cat: Edward Lear's famous classic poem, beautifully illustrated in watercolour paintings by Charlotte Voake, and introduced with a foreword by the Gruffalo author, Julia Donaldson. A touching tale that I love and enjoy reading to Jacob and Summer.
The Owl and the Pussycat went to seaIn a beautiful pea-green boat,They took some honey, and plenty of money,Wrapped up in a five pound note.
Included in The Further Adventures of The Owl and the Pussy-cat is a CD featuring two readings of the story by the author, as well as a performance of the story set to music. The CD compliments the book and is a lovely addition.
Both these books are timeless classics which I will continue to read to both Jacob and Summer again and again, and as long as they want me to read it to them. Jacob often attempts to read it himself, using the illustrations and memory to capture his own story. Both books are very enjoyable.
