Make way for the first official seasonal NARS collection feature ever to grace the blog (when I mean official I mean the brand had me to tea, and gave me the scoop) . It's an elegant collection and they spared me more than a few pieces to write about. To be quick on it this is probably the NARS makeup collection that Jared Leto's forthcoming Joker would go for. While the collection will be available at Rustan's the beauty source NARS have also just opened their first ever fully fitted out boutique at Central Square Mall, BGC Taguig.
All together I have: NARS VIP Red lipstick Php1450, Velvet Shadow Stick in Sukothai (duochrome peacock) and Flibuste (black) Php1550, Dual Intensity eyeshadow in Pasiphae Php1550, and lipgloss in Chelsea Girls Php1450) In the complete collection there are 7 Velvet Shadow stick shades in total, two lipglosses, a blush (Tribulante), two single eyeshadow shades, and the red lipstick. "The look begins with natural sculpting of the face. Eyes dramatize in smoky shimmering brown and golden ombré. Lips captivate in tones of iconic red. Making its official launch is the Velvet Shadow Stick, a silky, velvety shadow in a range of sumptuous shades for layering under and over, blending and setting, creating looks that are modern, sophisticated and always tempting."
I decided to wear the dual intensity eyeshadow Pasiphae over Sukothai velvet shadow stick for the eyes. I am also wearing NARS Pro Prime eyelid primer underneath both. Instead of the VIP Red lipstick I thought the Chelsea Girls lipgloss they sent me was a better match for dark eyes.
I decided to try shooting at night to capture the glamour of the collection which evokes the richly colored nightlife of the seventies era, and also to try and capture murky teal shadows in the dark. I think however I might find the other shade of dual intensity eyeshadow, Telesto, much more wearable than Pasiphae. I do not own Telesto. I like that these dual intensity eyeshadows, while still powder, were created to be used wet or dry. Despite shimmer you don't get a ton of heavy fallout, there is a bit of dust, but not at a level that's a pain to deal with. The velvet shadow sticks are awesome in pay-off, but kind of so-so when it comes to the finish after blending or some playtime. Still, at least once used as a base they grab onto powder eyeshadow and make them stay and obey, great for all night partying.
