Last weekend I took my first trip this year to Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park. It’s definitely a different experience going in the day. Whilst we didn’t do the rides or food, we did have a lovely glass of mulled wine, wandered the stalls and visited the mysterious Magical Ice Kingdom.
I was actually pretty excited, but really unsure what to expect as I’d never done anything like this before.
We went along with our pre-ordered and printed tickets and joined the queue – there was quite a long line of people waiting to get in, but nothing monstrous. It’s so that everyone doesn’t go in at once overcrowding certain areas.
We spotted signs saying that it was truly cold in the tent and as we neared the door we could feel the arctic breeze :P it was super chilly. Luckily we were nice and wrapped up having planned this in.
Inside, it’s in the minus degrees for temperature and everyone’s wandering round slowly looking at the sculptures.
The first ice sculptures you get to are fab but they’re just getting started. As you continue round there are some truly amazing pieces of art – I couldn’t believe some of these awesome creations were crafted by artists. They were just outstanding.

I’m not going to tell you about all the ice sculptures because that would just ruin it for you, and I definitely don’t want to do that!
There’s also an ice slide halfway round, and an opportunity to have your photo taken with friends or family on the two ice thrones! We obviously did this :) you can then buy your photos at the end – one for £8, or two for £10.
There’s a bar inside too, and also a more interactive piece of art which is a fab photo opportunity too – a mirror you can stand behind, it has a light behind it which reflects off you making it easy for other on the other side to see you. We had fun with this too!

Overall I think the Magical Ice Kingdom is definitely worth a visit, whether with the family and children or friend! Our tickets were £10 each for adults and we really did enjoy it. You will be wowed!
I think it’s great to have something different at Winter Wonderland too. It was truly ‘magical’.
