This LUSH Times catalog, which by the way you need to get at your LUSH store NOW (did I mention that it’s free), is the most awesomely edited cosmetics catalog slash price list I’ve come across. It’s already the third day since I came home with it and I’m still opening it up to browse through it. The LUSH Times is just bursting with what I need and want to know about all the LUSH products they have on hand and it’s all “embroidered” together with great written copy, lovely photos, and proper layout. If you’re a beauty blogger you most certainly need this in your life. I’m so glad the saleslady stabbed my shopping bag with it at the last minute…she nearly forgot they had some issues when I was walking out, I just happened to ask about the price of one more item. I also love that it’s not glossy and is made of recycled paper.
I also left the store with my own tin of King of Skin Php475 which is basically a solid lotion/body butter bar which melts into your skin full of good things like avocado, almond, virgin coconut oil, and what else… *nosedive into LUSH times*…Rose, Frankincense, Bananas, Jojoba, and Oats, too…what’s not to love skinwise, right. I just stuck mine in the ref because it’s a bit melty and the ants were trying to get at it even with the tin (ants know the good stuff from the bad)! This recycled paper masterpiece of a catalog is a breath of fresh air for me among the bajillions of poorly edited, dismissable, font clash fest glossy pamphlets handed out by too many other stores. This one here is content packed, fact packed, price listed per net weight option, and it includes the ingredients list of practically every item they have in the LUSH boutique.
They also have the complete price list at the back “Villman-Computer-Parts” slash “PC Express” style LOL. I think it’s absolutely great that they have copies of the LUSH Times because I know how overwhelming visually and smell-wise it can be to walk into the lush store. Let’s face it, when you walk into LUSH each lump or block of something on every table leaves a gi-mongous “What Is This” bubble floating over your head in spite of the store being peppered with propped up labels. Armed with the LUSH Times you won’t be walking in as clueless as you were the last time. It’s such a great publication that I wish it was monthly or quarterly and not just an annual issue, but I guess they’d be using too much paper than they’re comfortable with. Now onto my quick review on their body butter bar, King of Skin.
There’s not too much to show and display when it comes to King of Skin because it’s pretty straightforward…and have a look now, see, he’s actually a bald King, whoever he is. As I’m holding this I can feel it shifting and slightly melting over my fingertips almost like butter but not as aggressively, you can buy the tin separately for Php75 to store it safely. Have a bath or shower and before completely toweling yourself off, generously slide and rub King of Skin over problematic dry areas or your entire wonderful self if you like (minus your face) then step back in for a quick rinse before patting yourself with a towel afterwards. I concentrated application on my upper arms and elbows, skipped my torso and when straight down to legs and shins. Prior to using this I was getting scaly elbows, knees, and shins (as in skin snowflakes) because of the sudden change in climate. It always happens to me October onwards till about February. What I noticed with this is at first…when you’ve just rinsed…it does feel heavier and richer than normal lotions that dry up or disappear right away, so at first I wasn’t too impressed but then about 2 hours later in the car after coming from the hospital and “everyfinn” I took a moment to feel my arms and shins and OMYWONDERRZZZ. They were so, so soft and not sticky hydrated with a filmy feeling, and get this…that feeling lasted until the next morning. I guess this wouldn’t be an ideal moisturizer once the nippy air leaves us and summer heat comes rolling in (it’d be a pain because this would be melting all over the place) but I can certainly see why western folks love this stuff…it’s absolutely great for dry skin and it works hard at keeping skin moisturized longer. Now the point of all things solid at LUSH (including the solid shampoos) is that less packaging makes the world a better place. So the LUSH elves hand you your solid goodies in crispy paper bags like they would cookies to-go. Nature’s seal of approval came floating by this morning the moment I saw the ants wanted a piece of it and they barged into the tin at all costs, no other proof needed to convince me that it’s made of pretty good stuff.
