It was a wonderful experience and I plan to continue all the way in my life. I am 44 years old and I enjoyed every bit of it.

Doesn't mean that I enjoyed the diet, but the feeling every day felt more lively energetic and happy. Scale showed a reduction of 5 kg (11 lbs) which was great.

It's not difficult to eat an LCHF diet, there are much more add ons one can do. I loved it.

My husband and I took the two-week low-carb challenge and loved it. I am (was!) a full-blown sugar addict who can't go a day without my white fix in one form or another. I can honestly say I have not had a single craving, which is close to miraculous.

It is genius to start with an LCHF meal on Sunday evening, it helps stop hunger and cravings from the beginning.

The recipes are great, I printed them off and wrote comments, so we know which ones we love and want to repeat. We even had to flex and not eat at home a couple of times, but followed the guidelines and did fine.

Now the other results: my husband lost 12 pounds (5 kg), I lost 10 pounds (5 kg) and 2 inches (5 cm) from my waist! Also, we both have almost non-existing heartburn, which was daily before, no afternoon slump and improved IBS symptoms. This is a great program and we signed up immediately for the next week!

Here are my thoughts on this low-carb challenge... but first, a quick background.

My entire life I was always underweight. No matter how much I ate, I just couldn't gain weight. At 5'8' (173 cm) with a small frame, I weighed no more than 125 lbs (57 kg) all throughout my 20s. By my late 30s, I finally got to my ideal weight (for my height/frame) which is between 145-165 lbs (66-75 kg). Though I never worked out, I ate badly while living in Los Angeles (Pop Tarts for breakfast, burgers and a giant soda for lunch, El Pollo Loco Chicken and another giant soda for dinner.)

But then, at age 47 (6 years ago) I moved to Portland Oregon, dropped the sodas and pop tarts, started eating good average home cooked meals, walked everyday, yet somehow ballooned up to 225 lbs (102 kg)! And no matter what I did, I couldn't lose that weight. My blood pressure went through the roof, to the point where I had to go to a doctor and be put on low blood-pressure medication (which actually didn't help; and not one doctor told me I should lose the weight, they just pushed their drugs on me).

And then I found DietDoctor. Someone mentioned ' keto diet ' to me so I Googled it, and Diet Doctor's two-week challenge was the first thing to come up. So I tried it... my first week I lost 20 lbs (9 kg)! I guess that fat was just screaming to get off of me!

The second week not as much, but after the two-week challenge, in total, I went from 225 to 196 lbs (102 to 89 kg), and my blood-pressure lowered to a healthy and stable level. My target is to get to at least 175 lbs (79 kg), then start working out (calisthenics and jogging) and then maybe hit my ideal weight of 165 lbs (75 kg) at some point.

I am finally on my way back to better health thanks to you!

The low-carb challenge was a great learning experience for me.

I adjusted and readjusted, as instructed, learning the new way of eating. Meals were great! Flavorful and way filling. I am learning to eat smaller portions!

Also, I'm diabetic and learned not to expect a huge weight loss early, but to remain patient. Easy to do when I'm not hungry.

Greater alertness, aches disappearing, smoother skin, good energy level...

While I lost 2-3 pounds (1 kg), it was really most valuable to me to experience the greater alertness, aches disappearing, smoother skin, good energy level from ketones, and generally feeling healthier and greater sense of well being. Frankly, that surprised the hell out of me. I honestly thought I'd feel heavier and feel slower due to cholesterol sludge running through my veins, but that never happened!

My blood pressure and blood glucose are both way down. Even layed off my diabetes meds for three days to see the effect. I was well in the safe zone and very close to normal with no peaks! I lost 3.5 inches (9 cm) around my girth.

There was a hamburger and cabbage casserole that said like 2.5 oz (74 ml) of butter in the ingredients list, then says use 3 oz (89 ml) to fry cabbage, and use the rest for something else. Obviously, needed more than 2.5 oz (74 ml).

Constipation seems to be the only problem I haven't conquered yet. Up to five days without a bowel movement. Working on getting regular.

The low-carb challenge was a great experience for me!

On the first week of the challenge I had tons of energy and felt really great! I enjoyed most of the recipes and was surprised by how little food I need to eat to feel satisfied. I lost 8 lbs (4 kg) and 2.5 inches (6 cm) from my waist. I had also begun walking daily with a goal to get 10,000 steps per day every day of the week.

In week two, I skipped breakfast because I wasn't hungry, but then I would lose my energy during my walk and become tired and cranky. I lost my appetite this week and had bad keto-flu symptoms. My weight did not change nor did my waist on week two, but I ended up in the ER with Mesentaric endinitis, which is unrelated to the diet.

I weaned off Budesonide (steroid) just before starting the diet because I'd been on it for ten months and you're only supposed to be on it for 1-3 months. I have colitis, insulin resistance, hypothyroidism, Hashimoto's disease for decades.

My colitis symptoms are better on keto, so I am continuing the diet to reverse insulin resistance, hopefully keep colitis away and lose weight. I am obese.
