Joe Hill's The Fireman releases next month, and I got my grubby hands on an advance review copy.
It's a hefty book at nearly 800 pages, but so far I am loving it.
I've just started to dive in, but I am reminded that premise and plot are not the same. Characters are what count, premise is just the landscape of their conflict. The premise of The Fireman is horrifying, brought to life seamlessly, but the character's inside are so incredibly sweet. NOS4A2 was more premise, The Fireman more character and plot, and after just 10% in, I want to cancel my full weekend of family events to sit home and read instead.
