Good evening Beautiful,
Tomorrow is Friiiiiday! Whoop! My second favorite day of the work week (Monday is my first as it always flies by!). Want to know why I’m super excited for it to be Friday? Because after work, it’s the weekend, and this weekend I’m doing absolutely nothing!! Well, that’s a lie. I’m not just lying in bed all weekend, but I’m not going out partying, not drinking, not being exhausted... I’m relaxing, reading, studying, working out, cooking, eating, stretching, blogging, reading blogs, having coffee with a friend, and that’s about it. I was actually reading a blog today (The Paleo Project) and she takes AMAZING photos... I don’t know how she does it. I actually know how she does it, she knows her camera well and see’s beauty in all... something I need to work on. So I decided that if I do end up going anywhere besides the gym this weekend, I’m taking my Cannon DSLR with me and attempting to me an amateur photographer and see what I come up with.
I’ve recently learned something new about myself. I like being at home. This is a significant change from when I was younger (like 19-20). I always used to enjoy going out and checking out new bars and that kind of stuff. I still enjoy doing that I suppose, but in a different sense. I like going to see new parts of Toronto. I enjoy going to a new restaurant... but I really enjoy coming home afterwards. I don’t like going out after work (which is part of the reason I work out at lunch). I enjoy putting on my Lululemon clothes, wrapping myself in a blanket and either reading, studying or blogging the night away. I enjoy cooking dinner not only for myself but for my boyfriend. I just enjoy being alone after having to deal with hundreds of people during the day (this is not an exaggeration by any means).I think I’m getting old... wtf?
Something super exciting (for me... not for most people) that happened last night was that we bought glass tupperware!! Haha, I’m for sure getting old... oh man. Anyways, I take my breakfast and my lunch to work with me every single day. I don’t remember the last time I bought a lunch because I didn’t bring one (having a lunch and deciding I don’t want it and buying lunch is totally different). I measure out my food in the mornings, pack it, eat it, bring the tupperware home at night and wash it. We have plastic tupperware, however I’ve been meaning to get glass for some time because sometimes my lunch requires being heated, and heating food in plastic containers isn’t cool (chemicals get into your food, etc, etc.). Anyways, I used the glass containers today and they were GLORIOUS. You can see one here in my photo from this morning’s food prep for the day:
Actually, you can see two of them. One is holding the start of my yogurt for breakfast and one is holding home made salsa. Speaking of breakfast though, I snapped this photo of breakfast before I devoured it:
It’s vanilla almond milk yogurt topped with some fresh blackberries and strawberries, frozen blueberries, raspberries, strawberries and blackberries and 2 tbsp of organic hemp hearts and 2 tbsp of crushed pecans. It was to die for and I’m eating it for breakfast every single day from now until I get sick of it :).
Have you ever been to the St. Lawrence Market here in Toronto? All this food talk has reminded me that I want to go there. I’ve been in Toronto for over 2 years now and still have yet to check it out (I have a list of things I want to do that I haven’t done yet since living in Toronto)... maybe this weekend I’ll convince C to go for a walk with me to the market... And yes, we live within walking distance but haven’t gone.

They’re are a ton of organic places to shop in the market, tons of places to buy fresh food... I just basically need to go. Maybe I’m scared I’ll get super addicted to it and need to go all the time. That happened to me once in London, I worked near a market and spent all my money there basically. Always ate there, always got snacks there... it’s a vicious cycle :P... Anyways - look at all the cool places in the St. Lawrence Market!
So this week has been super great in terms of working out. I’ve exercised every single day this week with Jenny. I updated you on Tuesday about Monday & Tuesday’s workout, so today is a rundown of Wednesday and Thursday’s workouts. Wednesday was a run day. Well, it was supposed to be. We got out and finished about 3km when my blood sugar went low so we had to cut the run short and go back to the office. When my blood sugar goes low (I’ve probably said this before, but I'm diabetic.. remember?) I get insane cravings for any and all carbs. For real... and guess what? I usually give in. So what happened was when we got back to the office, I got myself a nice bottle of orange juice. This should really be the only thing I need, but alas, I also bought (and ate) 2 mini oatmeal raisin cookies, a chocolate chip muffin AND a Clif Bar. WHAT THE HELL SARAH!!!!!!!!! That’s like 20,0000000 calories!!!!!! UGH! I felt like complete ASS the rest of the day yesterday, I couldn’t concentrate, I was cold, tired, lazy, you name it. Even today I woke up still tired and unrested... I blame it on my “carbo-loading”.
Today was a much better day. I had seen a killer workout from Katy at fitinheels.com and I sent it to Jenny and demanded that we complete the workout. This is what it looks like:
So we did it! We split up the kettlebell swings, pushups and planks however. We did 2 sets of 15 in each round, and planked at the end... I think I would have thought this workout was harder had I just done the 30 kettlebell swings and 30 pushups all at once. Boo - next time I will do it for sure. However - I was sweating like a mofo and said the words “Sweet Merciful Christ” on more than one occasion, so it was challenging for sure. Katy recommends running at a speed where you are UNABLE to converse with others. I was able to converse in chunks of 2-3 words at a time until the last round... So my runs looked like this:
Round 1: run at 6.3
Round 2: run at 6.2Round 3: run at 6.0 for first 5 minutes. Run at 6.2 for 2.5 minutes. Run at 6.5 for 1.5 minutes. Run at 6.8 for 30 seconds. Run at 7.0 for 30 seconds.
I was soaked at the end of the whole workout. My hair looked like I had just gotten out of the shower and I’m probably rancid smelling. Oh well. Thank god though - I need to burn off some of the 20,000000 calories I ate yesterday.
Tonight for din I’m attempting to make some cauliflower soup. Wish me luck! I have NO recipe so I’m just making it up as I go! Hopefully I don’t end up wasting $20 worth of ingredients.
How have your workouts been this week? Do you have a local market that you shop at? Most importantly - have you over indulged on anything this week that you have to make up for with your workouts?? Share, share, share! :)
PS - I want to brag about something only briefly. So last night I got picked to be an Ambassador for Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution!!! Cool right??? The downfall, I had to decline because I can't commit to so many things, with school, work, blogging, working out, running 13 races in 2013... which was a a real bummer. However I'm still going to be keeping in contact with them and help promote the Food Revolution as much as I can through my blog and social media - YAYE!! :)
