Tenfold increase in childhood obesity, compared to 40 years ago

The rate of obese children is soaring, and is now ten times higher than it was just 40 years ago.

Obesity during childhood is linked to compromised health and an increased risk for type 2 diabetes, heart disease and certain cancers later on in life.

So what's the culprit? The worst offender is likely sugar and refined carbs. By the way, just this week another new study showed that women who eat more carbohydrates during pregnancy have babies who gain weight faster, and end up with a higher BMI.
