Ten Minutes With Celebrity Hairstylist Adam Reed and Christmas Gift Idea #21

By Joanna Koh

I caught up with celebrity hairstylist Adam Reed of Percy and Reed when he was in Singapore last month. While his talented hands were giving me an unbelievably  amazing blow dry, I chatted with him about London Fashion Week and his tools (and tricks) of the trade.

Which shows did Percy & Reed work on for London Fashion Week this year?
Reed: We did House of Holland, Alexis Barrell and Emilio de la Morena. It was quite a mix, we did beautiful wet-look texture at Alexis Barrell. At House of Holland we did a look which we called slick to dry, a wet look at the front going into a beautiful dry texture at the back.

What products did you use?
Reed: We used the Quite Wonderfully Wavy Texturising Spray, Reassuringly Firm Session Hold Hairspray and the No Oil Oil.

It does seem like the wet look is really coming back in, how can we take that and apply it to our daily look?
Reed: I think just keep it smooth, I don’t think go wet. Use a finishing polish through the last section of the hair, it’s gives you a nice clean finish without it looking too severe.

What would you suggest for our hair in this humidity?
Reed: Oil, all the way. Whenever you’re blowdrying your hair, finish off with a cold blast of air. Also, we have our shine and fragrance spray, it helps to seal the cuticle without making it heavy.

Are you planning to launch a range of hair tools, like brushes?
Reed: Yes, but it takes a long time to get brushes right and we don’t want to launch anything that we won’t use for ourselves.

In the meantime, what brushes do you use?
Reed: We use Olivia Garden, we get them online and they’re brilliant.
