Swiss Roll - Dessert

Though, Swiss Roll is quite old and traditional recipe, but still very much loved as dessert. The spongy desser prepared from cake has the layer of whipped cream and garnished with cherries. Also, you can substitute whipped cream by jam or chocolate as per your liking.

Ingredients

    • 4 Eggs
    • 3/4 cup granulated Sugar
    • 2 tbsps Buttermilk
    • 1 tbsps Oil
    • 1 tsp Cider vinegar
    • 1 tsps Vanilla extract
    • 1 cup all purpose flour
    • 1 tsp Baking powder
    • A pinch of Salt
    • Filling
    • Whipped cream
    • Cherries

How to make Swiss Roll

Step 1: In a bowl, beat the eggs, then add sugar, oil, buttermilk, vinegar and vanilla extract. Step 2: In an another bowl, sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Step 3: Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredents and gently fold into it. Step 4: Pour batter into the pan lined with paper, then bake it in a preheated oven until turns golden brown and spongy on touch. Step 5: Meanwhile, sprinkle some powdered sugar over a cotton tea towel and rub the sugar into the towel. Step 6: Once the cake is baked, then turn it over on the tea towel and remove the parchment paper. Step 7: Sprinkle some more powdered sugar all over, then roll cake into the tea towel tightly and evenly. Step 8: Cool the rolled cake over wire rack, then unroll the cake and spread whipped cream leaving the edges and top of the cake. Step 9: Again roll the cake tightly and wrap in a plastic wrap, then set in the fridge until sets. Step 10: Afterwards, dust with powdered sugar, cut into pieces and garnish with maraschino cherries.
