SWATCH & REVIEW│ Dior Mono Eyeshadow in It-Purple

Hello lovelies,

recently Dior have launched a new collection which features a new mascara in 4 shades, a new eyeliner and 4 new shades of their mono eyeshadow. I was slightly intrigued by the sparkly black but it was out of stock (and I’m glad, because I saw it later in store and it wasn’t anything special) so I only got the purple.

The eyeshadow comes in a classic dark blue Dior compact with a mirror and two sponge tip applicators. The palette contains 2,2 grams and retails for 23 GBP. You can get it from feelunique.

It-Purple is a bright purple with a blue undertone. The texture is very soft and it applies nicely on the lid. The finish is satin with a hint of microshimmer.

This eyeshadow can be used both wet and dry so, depending on how you use it, the pigmentation varies. When used wet, it is slightly intense and it goes on more evenly. Applied dry, it swatched patchily, but I had no problem with the application on the eyes. I like that if you layer it, you can get the same pigmentation you’d get if you used it wet.

The eyeshadow wears well with the primer, but not so well without it. The primer doesn’t affect the intensity of the color (at least Essence primer doesn’t ). Here you can see how it looks after six hours of wear over the primer. To test its wear I used Dior all over the lid, with a bit of Art Deco in the inner corner and bareMinerals eyeshadow as an eyeliner. I also used Dior Addict It-Lash mascara in blue.

Even thought it might not seem from the review, I really like this eyeshadow. I’m in love with this shade and I like the fact that I can layer it to get the desired intensity.

Another thing I have to add is that I’ve bought this eyeshadow in hope of finding a dupe for Urban Decay Ecstasy, which is my favorite purple ever and is discontinued.

As you can see in comparison swatches, Dior is pretty close colour-wise, but Urban Decay has more shimmer. Dior will do for now, but the search for the dupe continues.
