Summertime Cookout with Somersby at Crab in Da Bag

By Dariel

Frog and I had attended the Cook Out with Somersby held at Crab in de Bag located in Big Splash. Somersby being the number 1 Cider in Singapore had launched the new Pear flavour Cider on 5th March this year. Not sure if you guys had tried them yet. Personally, we prefer the Pear Cider over the apple ones as the pear cider taste light, crisp, refreshing with touch of juicy sweetness! Somersby Pear Cider is made with 22.5% real pear juice, with no artificial sweeteners, flavour or colouring. Add some Somersby Cider in your seafood dishes to further enhance the sweetness flavour of the seafood!

So happy that the cookout was a success!

This is my first visit to Crab in da Bag and I was surprised that no cutlery was given to us when we are eating the prawns. Not even plates are given to us. The seafood are placed on top of good quality butcher paper for diners to indulge their seafood. The manager of the restaurant told us that the idea for not having cutlery is to allow people to use their hands while indulging in the seafood and at the same time create bonding with your love ones over at the dining table.

Good quality Butcher paper to contain the food.

Due to the advance of technology, most of us are always busy playing with handphone during dinner time and the interaction with friends or family members have greatly reduced. To let the children eat in peace, parents do let their children play with Ipad or phone during meal time. I guess dining at Crab in da Bag will let the kids get busy with their food instead. The owner of Crab in da Bag, A.P Tan, mentioned that some of the elderly folks left the restaurant contented with happy smiles on their faces because it has been quite a while since the family really conversed over the dining table.

Finger Licking Good!

At the end of the Somersby Cookout, we got the opportunity to taste the Caboodle Boil comprising of Boston lobster, Sri Lankan crabs, King crab legs, Tiger prawns, Venus clam, sausages, yabbies, corn, potatoes, lemons, onion boiled in classic blend of Louisiana herbs and spices in a pot. We must say it was really fresh and the meat just rips off the shell easily!

Fresh tasty seafood that goes with their ‘exotic’ Malaysian Sambal Dip, Thai Green Bird Dip and Louisiana Garlic Butter Dip. The best part of the dining was that I was able to use my hands to eat the seafood without feeling awkward as everyone does the same. So shiok! Having our seafood with Somersby Pear Cider, what a perfect pairing!
