Hey There,
Finally the suns come out to play, and just in time for the festival season to pick up. I can’t think of anything better than sitting in the sun, drink in hand, listening to live music, can you?
With the lead up to festival season, the two things on most peoples minds are fashion, and booze. And yep, those priorities are pretty high up on my festival agenda, but there’s just one more thing, that is equally as important…Skincare!
I mean come on, most of us are dancing until the early hours of the morning, watching the sunset, or passed out with a bottle in are hands, not even thinking about the dirt all over are faces, (Glitter, or no glitter). And I agree, a festival is hardly the ideal place to maintain a five step skincare routine, you sort of go in with the idea and knowledge that you probably won’t be washing for a good few days. But we all know that smell that starts lingering after a day or two, booze, bodies, sweat, and err Porta loos.
Now just take that image, and that scent, and then think about what it does to your skin.
*Kiehls have teamed up with DJ Zara Martin to provide us festival goers, with a *skin survival kit (£94). And I’ve decided to add in some of my own additional beauty essentials, including my pre, and post festival skin pick me ups.
My Festival Beauty Kit:
- Eye Drops – To brighten up those ‘I’ve only had 4 hours sleep’ eyes
- Bee Good Lip Balm
- Dermalogica Multi Active Toner – To set make up, and refresh the skin through out the day and night
- Batiste Dry Shampoo
- Body Wipes – The alternative to showering
- No7 Tinted Moisturiser – As its almost impossible to do a full face of make up, successfully
- Benefits Hoola Bronzer – To add some glow to the skin
- Tangle Teezer – To tame the bed head
- Benefits Eye Bright – For a wide awake look.
…And if that doesn’t help and you can’t cover up with a concealer, just wear sunglasses!
*Kiehls Survival Kit (Featured in Glamour):
- Ultra Facial Cleanser – Zara Martin probably has access to a half decent sink at the festivals she goes to, but for us, this cleanser can be rubbed in, and wiped off.
- Micro-Blur Skin Perfector – This will help to smooth the skins appearance, just what we need to cope with, and pull of the minimal make up look.
- Ultra Light Daily UV Defense SPF50 – As its not fun getting sun burnt.
- Creme De Corps Body Moisturiser – We might not be able to wash, but we can keep our legs looking nice, and hope that the smell covers up the unwashed scent.
- Midnight Recovery Concentrate – If you make it to bed, then this is the perfect intense over night, ‘I’ve been drinking’ treatment, otherwise perfect for a post festival skin reviving pick me up.
- Skin Rescuer – A moisturiser which is designed for stressed, red and fatigued skin, (Its like it was made especially for festival goers).
My pre festival beauty regime:
Ok, so we may go to the festival all glammed up, but one night of drinking, and sleeping in a tent soon leads to minimal make up, and us rocking the bare faced, no make up make up look, right? It may be laziness, hangover induced or just because no one can see what they are doing in a compact mirror. Either way, getting your skin prepped and ready for a festival, allows you to drop the foundation with confidence. I say, give yourself a mini facial in the week leading up to the festival, and a good exfoliation the night before.
Post Festival beauty regime:
And as important as the pre, and mid festival skincare routine is, the recovery is just as essential. Repeat as above, sleep, eat, consume lots of H20, and detox.
Is skincare on your festival tick list? What beauty products would you take to a festival? What are your festival beauty tips?
Lots of love,
