Summer, the time for beaches, bikinis, boys and some fun! Be it where you are or when your summer starts, we all have this common need: Our Beauty Essentials for Summer. Here in Singapore, we have summer ALL YEAR ROUND. Yeap, that means summer regiment all the time!

{Disclaimer: Hera - Sun Mate Daily was won from a contest over at 11Street | Hurraw! Sun Balm tester was sponsored for the review. Regardless, it doesn’t change my opinion on the product}

As a result of that, I tend to keep my summer daily regime as simple as possible. Subtracting all the makeup and skincare products, we are left with one of the most important steps: Sun Protection.

Think otherwise? Check out this video on the importance of using sunscreen:

With that, the first item I am going to review as my Summer Essential would be Hera - Sun Mate Daily

Functioning as a sunscreen and a makeup-base at the same time, Hera Sun Mate Daily also have many functions from being waterproof, moisturising to being durable

Upon squeezing the sunscreen out from the tub, a sweet powdery fragrance from the sunscreen is detectable. As seen from the test patch above. the sunscreen was not entirely white. In fact, it’s a little peachy. This helps to blend in with our skin color and help keep our makeup regime be easier. The one thing which strikes me is how non-sticky it feels when being spread. From experience, the sunscreen which I’ve tried are either thick and sticky or watery and thin. While the Hera Sun Mate Daily is thick and smooth. Aside from those factors,  I find the Hera Sun Mate Daily to be very moisturising which is good and bad at the same time. Why? Well, because of that factor, people with oily skin should avoid that sunscreen for it does caused more sebum from our face to be produced.

Overall I would say this sunscreen deserves 3 Ireviewuread smiles for even though it is water resistant,  non-sticky and able to act as a makeup base, This sunscreen is more suitable for people who have a dry to normal skin type then those with oily skin type.  Prior to protecting your skin, the next step would be protecting your lips. I got to say, what’s a better protection against the sun then using some sun balm!

With an SPF of 15, this sun balm is made for you to run out under the sun after applying it.

Since this lip balm acts as a protective agent, it’s no surprise that it come off rather thick upon application. Passing off as a clear tangerine chamomile lip protectant, I have to say that I find the chamomile scent from the balm quite evident which is at the same time awesome and not so amazing depending on your preference.

With that, that’s the end of Shi Hui’s 2 step Sun protection summer/ daily regime.
