Staying Safe & Stylish In The Sun| My Summer Soaking Tips With HSN

By Heather Hahn @HeatherHahnn

I hope that everyone is having a great start to what already seems to be mid-week.

When it comes to the summer season, we always have to remember that some days may just be hotter than others.

In this case, you must always prepare yourself for the heat, and staying safe in the sun.

This certainly goes for me because I have very fair and pale skin, so I always burn really fast even when I am just playing outside.

So, to get you ready for this up and coming summer season, I wanted to bring you guys 5 of my most favorite summer tips, along with a few outfits tips as well with HSN { Home Shopping Network }.

 A Few Outfit Tips To Keep In Mind:

1. Try and wear “light” colors as much as possible during hot summer days. { colors such as: white & yellow }, wearing darker colors on hot days, the sun always tends to soak right into you when you are wearing colors especially as dark as the color black. Some companies now make clothing that’s lightweight, comfortable, and protects against UV exposure.

{ I know that it may look like I am wearing black in the picture, but the only thing black is my shoes. The shorts are navy. }

2. ALWAYS at all times, don’t forget to wear SPF protected sunscreen. In these photos, I am literally drowned in at least SPF 50, even my foundation and lip balm is SPF protected. Please, always, always, always wear sunscreen on a hot day, and don’t even think about going without it. Even wearing make-up protected SPF foundations help.

3. Wearing something as simple as a hat can keep the sun out of your face, and protect your head, especially if you have thin hair. You never should go out in the sun without protecting your head first on hot days.

4. It’s in the fabric that counts! Tightly woven fabric protects you better from the sun than loosely woven clothing. Dry fabric is generally more protective than wet fabric.

5. Last, but not least, please wear sunglasses to protect your eyes! I did not have any on me today, but this is crucial for any day when the sun is out and shining. UV-blocking sunglasses are always important for protecting the delicate skin around your eyes. Also long hours in the sun without protecting your eyes increases your chances of developing certain eye diseases as well.
