Spike Your Fashion Sense

By Ginetedw @DEXTERGINETE

Every year, we get to experience new trends in fashion. Every season in the country, whether it's dry or wet, we get to embrace new styles in dressing and lifestyle. Since fashion is ever evolving and designs are constantly dynamic, a certain style does not totally change or give birth to itself, unless you originally create one. According to Yves St. Laurent, "Fashion fades, but style is eternal." This is really true. Last year and even up to now, gold and silver studs as well as spikes and punk looks have been very popular. But where did this style come from?

Punk fashion originally began in 1970s music era predominantly as an expression of self-defiance and anti-materialism. The style was set in the mainstream by Malcom Mclaren's shop which included t-shirts, leather jackets, spikes to long haired hippie styles, to statement designed apparel that shout rebellion. This is the time where spike styles became prevalent: fishnet stockings, spike bands and other studded or spiked jewelry, safety pins, silver bracelets and make-up that is characterized by heavy eyeliner. Also on trend on  were razor blades, chains, leather, rubber and vinyl material that well incorporated the aesthetic metal experience with the essence of fashion and design. The footwear which was popular during this era was suedes, all star sneakers, boots, tight leather pants, trousers with leopard patterns and bowler hats and braces. But, did you know that there are many styles of punk: anarcho punk, celtic punk, dance punk, garage, hardcore, skate punk but of all the styles, my favorite is glam punk, (Source: Wikipedia), which was popularized by the New York Dolls.

Now, are you ready for a flavor of femininity to the glam punk fashion style? Introducing Chic Flick's newest addition to its accessory collection. The bright yellow spike string necklace which also serves as a choker to your colorful attire is one of its newest line of fab and gab products.
