Sony SmartWatch 2 has officially been unveiled last week: the perfect companion for your Android device has just become better than ever!

SmartWatch 2 is similar to the first Smart Watch model, but has obviously got some improved specs. It has been given a slightly larger screen, from 1.3 to 1.6 inches – and the screen resolution is increased to 220 x 176 pixels, while the resolution of the old model was 128 x 128 pixels. The screen will also work better in direct sunlight.

The new watch has got NFC support, allowing you to pair it with an Android mobile phone, all you need to do is hold the phone close to watch. phone, Bluetooth 3.0 is also included, while improvements were made in the user interface as well, and the watch comes with several preloaded apps. The user interface of the watch is to be more similar to the user interface of an Android mobile.

According to Sony, battery life has improved and it is now possible to charge it via a standard micro-USB cable instead of a proprietary charging cable that you had to use before. Battery life should be between three and five days.

The watch is also dustproof and waterproof (IP57). It only works with Android phones, not with iPhone. However, compatibility with various Android phones – even from manufacturers other than Sony – should have been better than with the previous model.

SmartWatch 2 will be available worldwide from September 2013, according to Sony. Price is unknown.
