Christmas Day is a public holiday in many of the world's nationsis celebrated culturally by a large number of non-Christian people,and is an integral part of the holiday season.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ChristmasOne of the main reasons we have the custom of giving and receiving presents at Christmas, is to remind us of the presents given to Jesus by the Wise Men: Frankincense, Gold and Myrrh.
- Frankincense was a perfume used in Jewish worship and, as a gift, it showed that people would worship Jesus.
- Gold was associated with Kings and Christians believe that Jesus is the King of Kings.
- Myrrh was a perfume that was put on dead bodies to make them smell nice and, as a gift, it showed that Jesus would suffer and die.
But nowadays it seems to be a growing trend of how many presents can I fit under my tree or how tall can I get the pile!As a mom of two children at the ages of 3 & 5 plus been in the social media lime light been a blogger you do get to see lots of pictures from other families.I'm not rich at all but I do love to treat me kids in the festive season and why not, but its not a popularity contest to see if you can beat each other on how many presents your kids can get.Yes, I have to admit in the past I have done so but I am wiser now and just so thankful that I have two amazing children in my live.In the photo above, it shows a mountain of presents, she may have a few nieces and nephews or perhaps all the whole family arriving on Christmas day. The fact is, we don't know. I suppose, if you are going to post a picture on social media you must be prepaid for someone to disagree with you, we are all entitled to have an opinion after all. Now, I remember when I was a girl, I pretty much got what I wanted. I think its safe to say my parents spoiled me during Christmas as they could afford it. Now, if you ask my Husband about his experiences of Christmas as a child, he didn't always get what he wanted as his parents were on a tight budget. None the less, he has fond memories of Christmas time regardless on what was under the tree. I think what I'm trying to say, is we all want to give our Children what we didn't have, but remember to give then what we did receive. A loving safe home surrounded my family.
