Check out 13 Snow Day Treats

by Katie L. Ogletree at Foodie.com

As most of you know, I live in the Texas Hill Country, which for those of you who don’t know is south-central Texas. It’s not known for snow, or cold, or anything remotely wintery. You also may know that I’m from the northeast, where winter is a big season, and snow happens. A lot. So while I do have a ton of experience with snow and snow-days, I haven’t really seen one in a long, long time.

Well, I take that back. Last year, the little town we live in, just south of Austin, experienced some… “snow.” There were a few flakes, but mostly, there was ice. The roads were slick and scary enough to everyone to close school. Crazy.

It was our little one’s first ever snow day, and we had a lot of fun in the kitchen, baking, making snow cones and eating warm and cozy foods. When it’s snowy outside, sometimes there’s really little better than a hot mug of cocoa, and foods that warm you up from the inside out.

So, using my favorite recipe tool over at Foodie.com, I have created a collection of 13 amazing recipes, from creative cookies and snow ice cream, to slow cooker pork and warm soups. This list should get you through even the worst of the snow days you’ll face, or maybe just a kind of chilly day. You can find the collection at the very top of this post too!
