Review by Melissa Edelblum
Indie rock band, Company of Thieves has returned to the music scene with Walk The Moon on their Press Restart Tour. The three-member, Chicago formed band consisting of Genevieve Schatz, Marc Walloch, and Chris Faller made their return to the music scene from their three-year hiatus.
As for their sound, words that come to mind are complex and versatile. They manage to touch on indie rock, jazz, folk/country combined with piercing lyrics and a soulful and emotional execution. Truly an interesting experience, one that can both cause an entire concert venue to reflect on an intense political track as well as rock out to an upbeat track a song later. Some could even compare CoT to indie-pop band MisterWives, with more of an emphasis on the rock sound.
Visually, their show relied heavily on light but wasn’t overwhelming to the point of spectacle. Colors were properly coordinated with the feel of the songs they were performing to really enhance the audience experience and highlight the band’s powerful performances. Definitely a show to catch if you’re able to!
The Oscar Wilde band returned to the music scene in late 2017 with their first single in six years, “Treasure” and is still on tour with rock band, Walk The Moon. To learn more about Company of Thieves, visit http://www.companyofthievesmusic.com/ or check them out on Spotify!
