When shopping, I do strictly adhere to a tip by personal stylist, Holly Getty - "If you see a clutch originally priced at $500 marked down to $150, ask yourself if you would pay $500 for the lovely little clutch. I am not necessarily saying you have the $500 to spend on an accessory, I am asking you to check your gut reaction."
I, personally feel guilty spending anything over a 100$ in one shopping trip unless its something I really badly want. So I have made a quick reckoner for myself to stick to budget.
40% On a few good pieces
Every season spend money on a few well tailored pieces. You could get that pair of trousers or a pencil skirt that fits you perfectly and you can wear it with a number of blouses, tops, corsets etc. depending on the occasion. If you are shopping for winters, the must have pieces could be jackets, coats, cardigans.
So If my budget for winter was a 500$, I would be spending about 200$ on coats, jackets, sweater dresses and cardigans. Sounds about right, no?
Coat $98
Dress $48
Leather Skirt $55
20% on Shoes and Bags
I love shoes and I would be ready to give up a few clothes for a pair of shoes when shopping. Well that's just me but tell me, doesn't a stylish pair of heels add that touch of glamour to any outfit? So every winter, I invest in one good pair of boots and in summers, its a good pair of nude heels. The next essential is a trendy handbag - one with the latest shape and color. Well that's all you need and you are all set for a new season!

Bag $36
Boots $96
15% on Trinkets and Accessories
When buying jewelry and accessories, look out for the hottest trends for the season. Trendy colored stones, beads, rings, cuffs will work to give you a with-it feel. The same goes for Scarves, Sunglasses, mufflers and belts.

Belt $29
Pendant Necklace $22
Scarf $21
15% on Flea Market/ Thrifted Buys
I usually like to visit a vintage market/ thrift store once in 2-3 months. Most often, I get good deals. It could be a dress, a coat or a blouse I bought from there that can be easily paired up with stuff I bought from high-end stores. I say, 15% only because I love thrifted buys!
10% on Contingencies
& This is a number that never changes! ;) Because We all have contingencies. There is always that one dress, one skirt, one pair of shoes that is delicious and you might have ended up spending all that season's budget a weekend before! You might have the hottest date to go to tonight, and nothing (new!) to wear. That's where this 10% comes handy!
So how have you been shopping lately? Do you love thrifted buys too? Let me know thru your comments.
Have a Great Monday, people.
