Senna Cosmetics is a ground breaking brand that's been around for close to 40 years. With a full range of makeup, skincare and tools, you can get everything you need in one shot!! I just got to try some of their more popular items and completely fell in love!
It can be overwhelming, as a Makeup Artist, to sample out everything that you see! Although, it's fun trying! Lol!
At this year's Makeup Show (in LA) I met the lovely Alison @ the Senna booth and after talking to her about the brand, she offered to send me some products for my review. I have heard Senna is well known for their brow powders and after trying them, I felt so robbed. How could I not have been using them all this time?! Lol! I have never, and I mean never, used brow products like these powders! They're like kohl but just heavy enough to fill in the brows perfectly but not too thick to make a mess. Make sense?
As you can see they come with a split pan of brow powder & a setting pomade which works perfectly and lasts all day without flaking or drying. Genius! I just tap my ring finger on it, run it over my brows and it sets perfectly! If I'm using it on a client I can apply the pomade the same way or I can use a small syntetic brush to slide it over. A disposable brow groomer is also an option, to brush it in.
The pomade is sold separately and as a duo. I like the duo because it's more compact for personal use. However, I can see getting a single pomade for your kit.
Alison sent over 3 Brow Shaper Duos, a Double Brow Grooming & Coloring Brush, 2 Lip Lacquers and some company literature with a hand written note (which we all know I LOVE!! Thanks Alison!! Xo)
Included, was a Brow Book which talks all about brows. How to shape them, what to use, how important they are in grooming and tips to help you figure it all out. Brilliant marketing tool in my opinion!
I had no idea how velvety the powders were so I thought the Ebony would work well with me because I have dark hair. Wrong!! It's a deep black so I put it on and immediately felt like Madonna in Who's That Girl?! Lol! It doesn't come off w/out some effort so I fluffed it out w/a Q-Tip and wore my dark brows for the day with minimal makeup. It wasn't so bad :-)
The Blonde is clearly too light but the Brunette is purrfect!! I've used them all on clients and everyone loves them! They are precise like a pencil but have a softer finish, like a powder but deeper. It sits somewhere in the middle. Be that as it may, I'm completely hooked!!!
The shades for the brow shapers are:
Brow Shaper Duos
(L to R) Blonde, Brunette, Ebony
(On Top) Double Brow Grooming & Coloring brush
All $20
*Lip Lacquers*
(Top to Bottom)
Chocolate Diamond & Gorgeous
$20 Each
The Chocolate Diamond gloss definitely has more of a golden shimmer while the Gorgeous gloss is more iridescent. They are both in the Lip Lacquer, Ultra Shine formula so they're heavy but still glossy without being unbearably sticky. They genuinely last for hours and the colors are neutral but packed with a gorgeous shimmer that enhances the shine factor! I've worn the glosses alone and over lipstick because they don't budge.
(L to R)
Chocolate Diamond & Gorgeous
Well worth the $20 because they last for so long and smell/taste like sugar! My favorite!
I definitely want more of the brow shapers to complete the set. Like I said, I've used them all on clients already and they've all been useful. With just the 3 shades that I have, I've been able to use them on all skin tones. I'm just being spoiled wanting more! Lol! The website is filled with goodies for someone who wants a few good pieces or a Pro who wants to fill their kit.
