Senior Geomatics Specialist

Job Description

With the retirement of one of our senior GIS professionals, Hemmera is now looking for a Senior Geomatics Specialist to provide GIS and CAD support to our clients. You will bring your extensive, hands-on industry experience to a growing team of Geomatics professionals working on multiple projects across Canada. You will also provide technical support and mentoring to junior staff, while keeping up to date with the latest advancements in Geomatics.

Responsibilities:

• Provide intermediate to advanced level quality GIS and/or CAD support to both our internal and external clients, within budget and on time.
• Work closely with the Geomatics Team Managers at Hemmera to provide relevant and timely inputs to continually to grow the capabilities/ knowledge of the Geomatics Team.
• Help facilitate the Geomatics Team’s Business Development platform to identify and pursue external opportunities as they arise, in direct conjunction with the Director, Geomatics
• Participate in meetings and other strategy sessions as scheduled
• Act as a mentor to junior team members
• Take on other types of Geomatics tasks as circumstances may dictate
• Follow the established standards and protocols of the Geomatics Team, as applicable

Qualifications:

• Minimum of a Bachelor Degree (or technical equivalent) in GIS or in a Geomatics related discipline
• 10+ years hands-on Geomatics work experience within the industry, preferably with at least 4 years in a senior role supervising Geomatics work
• Intermediate to Expert level hands-on knowledge of both Autodesk (AutoCAD) and ESRI (ArcGIS) platforms
• Knowledge of SDE and data management would be considered an asset as would experience in databases such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Access and a working knowledge of scripting and programming in Python for ArcGIS API
• Thorough understanding of both CAD and GIS environments and concepts
• Possess knowledge of fundamental principles of Cartography and Graphic Design
• Past web mapping and ArcGIS for Server experience desirable
• Previous involvement with preparing proposals and estimates an asset
• Environmental consulting industry knowledge will also be considered an asset
• Exceptional communication and leadership skills within both an individual and team framework
