Self-Transcendence 3100 Mile Race 2017 - Daily Updates - Day 5
In bed by 00:45, up 4:00am, shower, shave and off to set up to the race venue. This gets slicker every morning.
Organise the lap recorders, moments silence and they are off anti clockwise or uphill !!? Today lovely, not too warm and very fresh. Take a few morning photos. Then breakfast, and three hours have gone.
Today I hope to follow Vasu, probably the race favourite.
VASU DUZHIY 51, St Petersburgh, RussiaIn 2015 he ran a PB to finish 3rd in 44d 6h 10m 42s.
In 2013 he won, has ? finished 5 times
When not running? he is a foreman at a logging company.
A compact strong athlete, with a light graceful running style?. Very cleverly runs / walks? the course using the slight rises and falls. He also tells that he chooses 4 spots on the course to feel nothing but happiness on reaching, but with his limited English and my zero Russian , I only discover one location, namely the lap Counter table.
Arrives a few minutes before 6 am all already to start (assume he must prepare in the apartment). First lap he barely breaks into a run and takes ?13:50, 2nd lap 7:58, then settles to just under 7 mins per lap.
Hour 2 - 15 laps?. - split - 8
Break off 04:33:40?. On 05:16: 50
Break 7:38 :10 to 7:46:10? at lap 57
Break 11:37:33 to 12:10:33? at lap 73
Break 12:33:45 to 12:55:50 at lap 87
Total 125 laps. 68.8 Miles
Today man trying to break Guinness Record, Ashrita Furman, for travelling with a lawnmower balanced on their chin. Existing record around 20 m. He goes 71.530metres!! I had to measure the distance as an IAAF course measurer.
