Self-Transcendence 3100 Mile Race 2017 - Daily Updates - Day 18
Wednesday 6th July
Post. 4th July celebrations.
I have to stand in as lap counter all morning. But really enjoy this contact with the 5 runners I record for.
Another good day for running - not too warm, not too humid and a lovely cool evening.
Still, a hard day for a few.
Sergey has a leg problem from the very start of the day, and really struggles until the cool of the evening?. With only 64 laps he has used up all his spare laps and now slightly below the dreaded red line. Perhaps tomorrow will be crunch time for him.
Harita has had first setback as a sore shin slows her down slightly. But she has built up some insurance so no need to panic, so again tomorrow will be a crunch time .
Yolanda continues to impress and churns out another 109 laps.
A sad day as Smarana's helper, fellow Austrian, Horst returns home this evening. Not only has he been a great helper to Smarana?, his hard work and laughter has enhanced the event.
Traditionally the kitchen? make a birthday cake and although his birthday is a few days away, they make one for him. He is overcome and tears flow.
He hopes to take part in the 6 day in 2018.
