Sedap (eastgardens)

By Takeeatfoodblog
Sedap is located in the new food court at Eastgardens, next to Bondi Pizza and Ribs & Burgers. It is the only Malaysian cuisine restaurant among the other eateries. Sedap has a a creative decor that gives you the vibe that you are in Malaysia or some hawker street/ store somewhere in Asia. The menu has a variety of different dishes to choose from like rice, noodles, soup dishes and so on.

I know Sedap because of their recently opened branch in the City (Regents Place), however I have never eaten there so I was keen to try it out. My friend and I ordered two dishes which we shared- Char Kuey Teow and roasted
Hainanese chicken with rice plus two Teh Tarik drinks. Students (if you show your student ID card) get 10% off the total of the bill! :D

Char Kuey Teow
The Char Kuey Teow was not the best that I have eaten, it was quite oily and it did lack those extra spices to give the dish more of an outstanding flavor. However, the dish was quite generous in size that my friend and I could not even finish it! The chilli sauce on the side was not too spicy and did help bring out some flavours in the dish.

Hainanese roast chicken with rice
The Hainanese roast chicken had a nice crispy skin layer that was coated in some sort of sweet sauce that gave it a really unique taste. The chicken rice had a very strong chicken flavouring, which is a must for chicken rice and it complimented the roasted chicken very well.
Picture Overall, Sedap was a very standard Malaysian restaurant, its dishes were not spectacular but they did serve dishes that filled you up and the sizing of the dishes were very generous. Since we got a student discount (must show ID) the dishes were quite worth it.

Happy eating x
