Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation

By Bbeautylove @bbeautylove

I always like to try new foundations and since this one from Rimmel underwent a mini-makeover recently I thought it was the perfect time to try it.

I have had this for a while now and really I am still unsure whether I like it or not. The Match Perfection range has been given many thumbs up by other bloggers but I am still slightly unconvinced. It all sounds pretty great; medium coverage, light boosting properties, SPF 18, good color range and great price. But something is missing for me.

The shade I have is 103 True Ivory but I probably could have gone a shade or two darker but this adapts and matches my skin fairly well. The coverage is ok, meaning that it covers up slight redness and small blemishes. Any proper spots still stand out and need concealing. It blends reasonably well over the skin with hands or a brush but can take a little more time to settle when applying over a primer (and I have tried it with various ones in my collection). It claims to ‘last all day’ and it basically does. It did go patchy on certain areas like the chin and forehead but nothing that will ruin the overall look of your make up.

It does feel light and quite gentle on the skin and it didn’t cling to pores or dry patches, so again all great positives but I just don’t love this foundation. I don’t know whether my expectations are unfairly high due to other reviews I have read however, all that said I would still recommend this. Whether the product inside has changed since the re-launch, I don’t know but the packaging and ad campaign has had a stylish re-vamp and the packaging is really pretty, that I do love.

Verdict? You will like it, it will do a good job and it won’t break the bank. But it won’t wow you and it won’t change your life.

Sorry Rimmel…

Available from Boots, Superdrug, supermarkets and online. Priced £6.99.

Please tell me your thoughts on this foundation in the comments as I really want to like it.
